what if i really see youtube as a career?

I've Got It
im in college for broadcast journalism and i don't want to go into doing the News so i thought that youtube being my own platform once built i could do wonders with the exposer. so why not.

Anyone who quits there Job or studies to do YouTube full time is going to end up down **** street. Unless they are already at the stage where their YouTube channel is bringing in enough revenue to live off but even then one change of the algorithm could wipe you out

I believe in order for that to o current, you need to have a good plan. I am actually sort of in the same boat but for the gaming realm. It's something I enjoy to do in my free time so I might as well try bc it is fun. But once/if you get to a point where you know there is a chance for you to follow your passion..... Do it but be smart.
Study business a bit, not take classes or a degree but inform yourself well of business tactics. Simple things like branch out. Don't stay on YouTube forever. Eventually grow and move your fan base to your website and that you can have full control of. Invest your money wisely in your "small business", bc essentially that is what it will be.

Always be learning for bigger and better opportunities. Always stay informed in your industry or you will be left behind.

Anything is possible these days, I mean look at the presidency here in the US. Whether you agree or not with what happened, one thing for sure is that anyone can be one who they want to be in this country so long as they work their a** off.

Wish you the best, and don't give up.

I understand what your saying completely. As much as I would love to quit school and my jobs to focus on YouTube 100%, I know that is not realistic and not smart for me. Do your thing while working on YouTube and keep following your dreams and working hard because if you truly enjoy making videos then your passion will bring the revenue eventually :D

I would love to make this a career. I'm going to college too but I would be more than happy to make it my job

"The problem with positive fantasies is that they allow us to anticipate success in the here and now. However, they don’t alert us to the problems we are likely to face along the way and can leave us with less motivation—after all, it feels like we’ve already reached our goal."

This is why no matter how proud of my content I am. I make sure to humble myself and focus on the present. =]
