The problem I find with fraps is, there is so little options available in terms of compressing while recording. Dxtory offers loads of settings and the ability to use different codecs to compress while playing. Which frees up a load of space. It is also less CPU intensive than Fraps.
 
Dxtory is better than fraps,but its files are way bigger than Fraps.Once i recorded a 20 minute Minecraft gameplay,80 gb with Dxtory :p
 
I use fraps too. The file size doesn't bother me, since once I've edited and upload my video, I delete the raw footage files. I like the overall simplicity of fraps.
 
I very much like to use Screencast-o-matic because it is high quality, cheap, and can compress video files to a reasonably small size![DOUBLEPOST=1366583616,1366583557][/DOUBLEPOST]Screencast-o-matic is also very user friendly, and has an easy to use interface that allows you to capture easily!
 
Yeah, fraps is great quality and all but the file sizes are really big and taking up space on my computer, and compressing it takes time and effort and ya' know- I'm lazy like that :p

Yeah I am the same even though I have the space I just don't need to keep the file.

Fraps just seems so easy to use too but then again I haven't really used any others.
 
For those of you with some cash to spend (and also want a drastic improvement in quality and performance while recording) you might consider the Avermedia Live Gamer C985. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and was floored by it. Not kidding when I say zero impact on performance while recording 1680x1050.
