I Love YTtalk
Hello all, I talk about this sorta in a previous thread I made, and I've been thinking quite a bit about it lately. When I was starting out on youtube, simply 100 subscribers was so much to me, and the idea of someone with 1,000 was pretty much a Tom Hanks-level celebrity.

I'm now nearly at 6K subscribers, and as my subs increase, so does my idea of what "Youtube Famous" is. I'd call myself "established" as I've been doing this for quite a while, and I've gotten a pretty large and loyal following of pretty awesome fans, who will often act starstruck almost when I respond to their comments, but I generally would refrain from using the word "Famous", as to me I'd feel sorta conceited almost for saying it.

When I now think "Youtube Famous" I usually think of 40-50K subs, but I know if I were to ever get that many, I'd probably raise the bar to like 100K or something. We tend to undermine our accomplishments quite a bit.

To all of you, what do you consider "Famous" on Youtube? Do you judge it by Sub count, View count, simply how much people have heard of someone?

I'm interested to see people's ideas on this.

(I will compare to singers)
1-100 - Account that watches youtube. Who just happens to make videos <-- me
101-500 - Local band who does good songs
501 - 1k - Someone who just got noticed on american idol.
1k-10k - Top 12 of american idol.
100k - american idol winner.
300k - kelly clarkson
500k - maroon 5
1m - michle jackson
2m+ - the beatles.

I think that is pretty accurate in my book :D ha ha

I judge based on how many subs they have, how many views each of their videos have, how many likes they get on their videos, how many comments there are. A person could have 3k subs and usually I'd consider that pretty known, but if their videos get views anywhere between 20-100, that is basically nothing compared to what they should be getting because of the subs.
A person with the same amount of subs that gets 1000+ views on their videos and lots of comments, I consider well known.
A person with 50,000-100,000+ subs, if there's lots of likes and comments and video views, is pretty much a celebrity to me.

you're not famous until you're beyonce #sorrynotsorry

There are 3 levels of fame on YouTube
Known (Some people have heard/seen of this channel/person) - 55k subs
Well Known (Most people have heard/seen of this channel/person) - 115k subs
You're epic (Everyone [on youtube] has heard/seen of this channel/person) - 1m+ subs

Do not count fame off of views because the definition is "Known about by many people." (in otherwords, a large fanbase [Subscribers] )

I consider supergreatfriend famous for his awesome let's plays but he has only 6k subs. I never consider sub count just content in my eyes.

Bite your tongue.
You really think she compares to the 2 biggest names in music history?
Don't get me wrong, she is a fantastic artist and is no push over. But...

Beyonce - sold 75 million records world wide.
Elvis - sold 2.5 billion records world wide.
The beatles - sold 1.6 billion records world wide.

It's like comparing a Viper to a jet. Ya the viper is fast... but :(

Also I bump mine up to michal jackson style seeing as 75million is about where he was haha. my bad :D She is quite large
