This has taken a turn..lol[DOUBLEPOST=1358792670,1358792632][/DOUBLEPOST]
Well, I'm at around 22k subscribers, and I still don't consider myself famous, let-alone known :p
Thing is, I'll never consider myself famous, I'd be nothing without my loyal fans
You're big time and modest. ;)

There are 3 levels of fame on YouTube
Known (Some people have heard/seen of this channel/person) - 55k subs
Well Known (Most people have heard/seen of this channel/person) - 115k subs
You're epic (Everyone [on youtube] has heard/seen of this channel/person) - 1m+ subs

Do not count fame off of views because the definition is "Known about by many people." (in otherwords, a large fanbase [Subscribers] )

I'd probably agree with this one. I'm right about at that "known" stage. I've noticed my ideas of "famous" have changed significantly as my channel has grown. I remember when I thought 100 subs was a lot; now I think 100,000 is "pretty good".

I'd say either a lot of subs/views... or when people actually say 'I saw you on Youtube' in real life. Despite our low views, we do get called out at cons sometimes and even ask if they can guest star in our videos.

0 subs = lurker
1-9 subs = fangirl
10-99 subs = fangirl who makes videos
100-999 subs = captain of the football team
1,000-4,999 subs = new youtuber
5,000-9,999 subs = wannabe superstar
10,000-19,999 subs = leader of a cult
20,000-49,999 subs = intermediate youtuber
50,000-99,999 subs = serious youtuber
100,000-199,999 subs = popular youtuber
200,000-499,999 subs = entry level famous youtuber
500,000-999,999 subs = famous youtuber
1-2 million subs = super famous youtuber
2 million+ subs = youtube superstar

YouTube famous and famous seem like two totally different things. If PewDiePie and Brad Pitt went to a club together, the ratio of picture request would be quite large.

Over a couple of million subscribers and would have videos made about them like Pewdiepie,Smosh, Jenna Marbles, Shane Dawson etc
