What do you answer when someone asks how much you make on Youtube?

Everytime I tell people that I have a youtube channel, people manage to somehow indirectly ask or either straight up ask me how much money I make from Youtube...honestly it's none of their business I dont ask them how much their salary is....

how do you answer back??

Probably wouldn't answer just yet, I generally consider this a private thing, regardless of whether it's youtube or a another job.

If you get to the point where the numbers you have are enough to make you question whether or not to say it out loud; divert away or have a general statement prepared. I am more private person when it comes to certain aspects of my life and this would be one of them.

I feel the best way to answer this would be to say something along the lines of "I make enough to live off of it" or "I get out what I put in"(effort)

I get this question sometimes. I'm usually really honest with them and try to emphasize how much YouTubers don't make. A lot of people hear rumors about a few top YouTubers making hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of dollars, and people tend to think all YouTubers are like that.

So I'll say "A few pennies a day." or "About a dollar for every 10,000 views"...which are both true for my channel (I don't monetize a lot of my videos). That usually makes them quiet. ^^
