What are the benefits of having a "verified name" account on Youtube!?

If you get a verified name through Google+, you can get this little checkmark on your Youtube channel. Except for it being there, are there any benefits to it!?

Also would it do me any good even though I don't use google+?!

It's apparently useful for the big youtubers, when other people create channels with the exact name as theirs and try to impersonate them or spam. If they don't have the verified mark, they are not the real youtuber.

I think its handy for celebrities who decide to make a youtube channel, so people know that they are the real slim shady or not #puns4days

see the check mark is like a ego booster, once you get it you have by law the right to smack 5 people in the face daily, just under the premise that you are better than them, or at least thats what i just made up.

It let's people know that you are the original. Many people create fake accounts using the same name, and avatar, and try to impersonate them.

A while ago the Yogscast disabled their comments because of this. People were creating fake accounts and pretending to be them.

It sets you apart from all the other youtube names. And I dont think you have to keep using g+
