What are some ways to increase average watch time?

I get a decent amount of views as I try to promote as much as I can but my average watch length per video is kinda bad, getting better slowly but I need it to go up a lot. Any tips would be great.

Well watching your latest video, it took you about 35 seconds before saying a word. That's way too long. I had an intro that I spent at least 5 hours on that was only 6 seconds long, but my analytics showed that I was losing about 25% of my audience during the first 6 seconds. It was hard for me to let it go, but since then, my audience retention has gone from around 38% to around 55%. You need something to keep the audience curious during the first few seconds. I personally like ask a few questions to peak the audience.

Yea I figured the intro had something to do with it, I like it but Im probably going to change it soon, I'll make it shorter, maybe try to get the maps in somewhere else during the video. Thanks for the advice.

I've found that my audience retention has gone up a little (people still rarely watch the whole video) but they at least stuck around for at least a few minutes whenever I started putting a short funny or attention grabbing short clip from the video in the beginning and then playing my Short intro, and then the gameplay video after that.
I think it has helped, and I see a lot of bigger youtubers doing that

Increase watch time session and views by set video's into playlist. Looks obvious, but i see allot of channels(big and small) don't do this.

Wow, there are some good tips here! I am a noob so I can't give you any tips... BUT, Video Creators is a great YouTube channel that may have something on this subject. :)

I would advise you making shorter videos but I see that you're trying to keep them above 10 mins for more ads. So in that case you should engage the viewer right at the beginning of the video. They say that the most emportant part of the video is the first 15 seconds (I personally would say 10 or even less) because that's when the viewer decides if he/she should watch the video or just click away immediately. I saw you are making road trip videos, so you should talk about the area you're in or something like that and make it interesting or othervise people will click away in the firs 10 seconds.

Ya know, I'm considering getting rid of my intro. It seems like some people get into like 30 seconds into my video and quit. I think jumping into the content asap works best.
