Haha, really unfortunate if someone understood that I encourage sub4sub.Haha, I think everyone misread this and thought you were encouraging sub4sub. Clearly, you're not!
But I see you understood what I wanted to say ;-)

hey guys so i was just wanting some general advice on how to get to the big 1K! faster u dont really have to look at my channel just lookin for some good advice from you experienced ones cuz im still a rooky and starting to understand YT more but still want more way i can improve and make my channel the best it can be
and also i would love to hear any stories you experienced ones have on getting to 1k and also
how long it took you to get there thx guys for all the loving support
- Razzo
lol i guess my question was missleading cuz that sub for sub thing is a horrid way to grow a "successful" channel but ya thx for the advice man ill defiantly check out some other threads[DOUBLEPOST=1454521078,1454520622][/DOUBLEPOST]Hey Razzo !
I think you put the problem from a wrong point of view. You should ask yourself :"How can I improve my content, such that I will get to 1k subs faster ?"
Because a simple answer to your previous question would be : do sub4sub. And that's it . If you work on that hard enough, by tomorrow you should have 1k subs for sure
I've checked your channel and you have 45 subs in 2 months ! That's great man ! But you don't have a lot of content - which is also normal giving that you just started your channel 2 months ago. Regarding improving your content, you can ask people for feedback in the first place. Look what other people are doing, get inspired + check other threads around here. There's a lot that will help.
Cheers,
Chris
PS. I didn't get to 1k subs yet, but I know it will come sooner or later as long as I keep on going and improving.
haha nooo i heavily support organic growth for channels not sub 4 sub shady stuff .[DOUBLEPOST=1454521224][/DOUBLEPOST]Haha, I think everyone misread this and thought you were encouraging sub4sub. Clearly, you're not!
You're right. Subs should be seen as validation that you're doing something people are interested in, but it's really all about views, retention and engagement. For me, subscriber count is probably #4 on the list of things that I care about and will come in time naturally.
Taking a look at your channel:
- Good thumbnails
- Good actual videos & commentary
- Titles are also good
- Tags are good
Where you could improve:
- Write longer descriptions, since those descriptions also help your rankings. The way I do it is I sort of make my description like the synopsis of a book, I give a run down of what I'll be covering, and even include some of the opinions/messages/advice I give, without spoiling the whole video. Most people don't actually read the description until *AFTER* the video so you don't actually have to worry about spoiling it actually for the most part, and all that text in the description is meta data just like your titles and tags that affects your search rankings.
- If you have time, add closed captions. Just like titles, tags, and description, they affect your search ranking, and allow you to rank for things you mentioned in your video that you perhaps didn't include elsewhere in your metadata.
- I noticed in your about page you ask people to subscribe to help you out - it's better to ask in a different way. Instead of asking people to subscribe for you, ask people to subscribe for themselves, i.e. remind them they'll be getting weekly awesome content if they do, or whatever. There was a psychological test done where they got a bunch of people to ask to skip a queue to use a copy machine, in two different ways. The first group just asked to skip queue in a polite way. The second group asked to skip the queue, and then added "because I need to make some copies". Suddenly, like 2-3x as many people said yes to their request. It was obvious they needed to make copies since it was a copy machine, but because they added that "because" reason afterwards, more people said yes. So add a reason why people should subscribe, even if it's just because you upload videos regularly!
Really though my biggest piece of advice to you is to try to make more videos. My channel has been around about the same time as you, and I have 153 subscribers. For about the first month of that I didn't even have good thumbnails, titles, tags, and my videos were audio only for the most part too, so I was actually abiding by worse rules than you, and still managed to get more subscribers. Why? Simple, your channel has 13 videos, mine has 57. That means a whole bunch more places where people can find my channel, including one video that's now took over and has over 5000 views.
So yes, try to upload more regularly. My current schedule is basically "At least Wednesdays & Fridays, with some extras" - that way I only really have to upload on Wednesdays and Saturdays if I have too busy a week to manage recording more, but if I want to, I can upload every day (and some weeks I do). It's worked pretty well for me, though I plan on making it 3 mandatory days a week, with Friday probably being the third one because Friday seems a good day for uploads in my particular niche.
thanks that really helps and yea i need to make more content school kida sucks up a lotta time so i guess i just gotta grind harder but thx alot for the real though out advice and congrats on 153 subs and your viral vid
yea i used to think every week AGGH i gotta put out 3 vids and i never achieved that but now my look on it is at least 10 vids for this month. makes me less stressed and seems more achievable. like you said make them in bulkThanks If you're stuck for time and can only record occasionally, then my best advice is to record bulk. Originally I would plan a video, set up, record it, edit it, and upload it, all in one go. Now what I do is record 3-4+ videos in one go, edit them all in one go, then upload them as quickly as possible and schedule them for the days I want them to be released on. It means I only need to really record once or twice in a week and can pretty much fill the week with videos, or I can have a bunch backed up and ready for the future.
There is a channel that is doing a 100,000 sub without a video challenge and they're at like... 23k subs atm.Hey
Id advise against sub4sub as its not people interested in your content and if you have 1000 subs and 24 views on a video you dont achieve anything. Id say work on the content, post regularly, get into the community your channel fits in, and generally get your name on the internet. I've been working hard on just speading my name on the internet and slowly im seeing progress.
Also work on views not subs! 100,000 views is more impressive than 1000 subs. The other day i stumbled on a channel who had 2,500 subs and not a single video uploaded!
My curiosity is seriously peaked. I've looked at the p4p videos. Can you share your experience with it, do you find it to work? I would assume you do it with channels with similar profiles and view/sub numbers?Never ever do Sub4Sub, ever! My advice for you is to do Playlist4Playlist, a technique George Vanous thought me and a few other people.
Lol, great, conclusion: I am failing miserablyFew months back i've made a new channel just out of curiosity, how hard is it to climb up as new YouTuber. Channel is based around single mobile game. I upload every 3 days on it - short clips of gameplay/guides and so on what's common among gamers (nothing out of the box). I do 0 promotions for this channel on social networks. After 3 months channel has nearly 400 subscribers and about 1200 daily views. So in general, be consistent with what you do. There are many useful guides on this forum made by YT users that actually made it all the way, like uberdanger.
