Way to change your thumbnails! (None partners trick)

i think it'll just work by trimming the video and changing the total length. it has to do with some algorithm that youtube uses to get the 3 thumbnails

no i swear that its worked for me by changing the effects too.

Perhaps it has to do with the file type and and/or length too?

I know that i had to wait almost 30minutes for the effect to take, and then after another 30 minutes of waiting for the to be reverted I had 3 new choices. Perhaps it doesn't work on short videos that take seconds to take on effects? Hmm.

alright. I actually posted on this without trying, so I think I'll give it a shot. If I do, I'll let you know what happens

ok cool, yes please do. I also have some evidence of this... look at the thumbnail of this video. It has the effects on it, and the video does not.

I looked at the thumbnails available to me now today, and none of them have a thumbnail with the word "music" in it. s

Or if you are not a partner.....now some people have gotten this email

Hello!
As a part of our plan to expand access to features to all partners, we’ve recently enabled your YouTube account with the ability to upload custom thumbnails for your videos.
Previously you could only select from three system-chosen images from your video to represent your video throughout YouTube. Now, this feature allows you to additionally create, upload and associate a representative image of your choice.
You can find this feature by logging into YouTube, navigating to the Video Manager, selecting a video to edit, and under the Info & Settings tab click on the button labeled “Custom Thumbnail” that appears under the three system-generated thumbnails. Alternatively, when you upload videos, this option will appear directly in the upload interface once your video finishes processing.
And we’d like to remind you that that with increased access comes increased responsibility. Please only upload images that are representative of your video, ideally featuring prominent stills from your video. Thumbnails must comply with our Community Guidelines, so abuse of this feature can result strikes against your account and account termination.
Enjoy access to this feature, and we look forward to what you will create!
