Vlogging in Public, Shame on You!

Hey, so I'd like to hear peoples stories and views on Vlogging in Public. Or for some of you recording your videos at home with people, friends, family around.

I saw a few comments on YTtalk within a discussion about a user who feels uncomfortable making videos while people are at home and I thought, thank jeezz I'm not the only one. Now I've seen some pretty funny videos on YouTube, one actually is from user atypicalvideo titled Walk of Shame. She is pretty new and is putting out some great content and after writing a comment on her page joking 'wonder what people would have thought if they saw her roling around on the ground', she replied... people did!

Now I have trouble feeling normal vlogging in public doing normal things, even at home I schedule filming while my flatmates are out so I can get the job done.

I really love watching other vloggers and seeing what they get up to in their daily lives. But I was wondering how other vloggers feel about it. How do you get over the fear of filming in public (or at least the discomfort) and for those that film inside commercial premisies as in resturants, salons, shops etc do you need to ask permission first?

Vlogging really is not a world I have discovered freely yet and would love to hear your journey to feeling comfortable with it.

When I was vlogging, I decided to do embarrassing things off camera, so when I was just talking in public I wouldn't be as worried.

This went from talking to onions in my local grocery store to using 2 bottles of coke and having an 'action figure' fight. ;)
 
Hmm well I do my show at home and half the time my kids are in the room watch or running the camera and lights for me. I find it gives me more energy when we have an "audience" and at least we know when a 9 and 7 year old find us funny.
 
I wouldn't dare vlog in public, just yet anyway haha.
I feel quite limited in what I can do when I know people are in the house cause I'd rather not have them hear me :3
The only way to get comfortable though is to just keep doing it ^^

1. - Keep making videos until you're comfortable making and watching them on your own.
2. - Start occasionally making videos with 1 or 2 more people and get comfortable with that.
3. - Start doing it in public.

I guess that's how the build up should work :p

Anyways, I still fell uncomfortable around people, but I want to think that it gets better the more videos you're making. Look at all the big vloggers or youtubers. They running around in public with a camera in front of their face. They always saying things like: people give me wird looks right now.

So, I do think that after a time you'll get over that.
 
I'm not really a vlogger, but have done a bit of filming outside. I think it's just a build up- I just waited until nobody was around or got someone else to film... just do that until you feel more comfortable in general then when you're ready (and don't care about being in public anymore! :D) film some stuff by yourself :)

I think it's a fairly unnatural thing to do so expect that everyone encounters a bit of a learning curve, even seasoned YouTubers had to start somewhere when it comes to vlogging in public. As they did it more and more I would expect that it eventually just becomes second nature to them :)
