Views are worth more then Subs

Not everyone keeps it real like you and many other people i see on here,

Ive come across channels with 70K subs and get 300 views a video, trust me some people dont understand how to be a respectable youtuber
 
We defiantly are in the little "sub4sub click". It seems like there is a secret society of subbers who go around and comment of other peoples videos, it's actually pretty cool. In exchange, you do the same. It is becoming like a "family" I was totally against sub4sub, but my wife started it, it works if the subscribers are engaged and in exchange, you need to be engaged on their channel.

We value the views, it's the only way you get attention, without views, you get no subscribers. At the same time, people judge you on your subs.

I've noticed this. I don't do sub4sub but I'm subscribed to a person who does it. Every time I comment on her videos, I get a bunch of sub4subbers on my channel who I don't want! Even if they occasionally write a comment, how am I supposed to take their compliments seriously. :confused: My only option is to stop commenting on that first person's channel, which is ridiculous. :(

Ha ha, yeah I could see how his would be a problem. I was annoyed at first, but my wife was all into it, you could imagine our arguments. But after the asking sub4sub, the comments "seemed" genuine. You know that saying, "What you don't know can't hurt you." On the surface, people are watching, liking and commenting on your videos constantly, it's a good feeling.

I'm not saying it's right, and it's not for everyone, but we have only been up for about 3+ weeks and I can't complain about how our channel is doing.
 
I guess I fall into Lightsen's "channels that cover multiple subjects" category, because most of my views come from suggested videos more than anything, and I get subs from those views, but most of those subs don't watch the other stuff I post.
 
I think at some point you have to develop a style that will draw the viewer into subbing on first view and retain them from then on.
Whack them between the eyes in the first 10 seconds and shake them up in every video you make!
For the rest of the video its a matter of keep them viewing so use all tricks necessary.
From there use a call for action at the end and hopefully all has worked.

From there you have 1 view, 1 Sub, Improved Search Ranking - All in the perfect world!

The Quantity over Quality is out the window thanks to YT flooded with all the gamer channels.

Exactly,

As i gamer myself, ive never been of the mindset to do daily videos, i see SOO MANY upcoming youtubers that do daily videos and i really dont understand. Some do 2-3 videos, and dont really care if they get views (which is strange). If someone comes accross their page and sees 50 videos each with 4 views each, they are not going to get clicked on, why? cos that person will think they are waisting their time. Doesnt matter how good that video is, when your new or unknown you have to have that "wow" video, or make videos of quality, and let that sit on youtube for a few days, hell if you have put that work into that video you would want to give people that opportunity to watch it right? :)
 
Subs mean nothing if you don't have a way to gather that following be it through social media and what not. At the end of the day you get paid by ad clicks, your partners, sponsorships so the more people you get watching your videos the more successful your channel becomes. Sure it makes you look big but if half of those subs are inactive youtube accounts then your not getting the most out of it. Look at Athene who used to donate all his money that he made to charity yet how does he live? He explained that there are other ways of generating money to live on youtube like sponsorships. His is/was sponsored by Razer so he gets paid showing off Razer gear or just promoting them. Unfortunately people will only watch your content that they most enjoy which you may not enjoy making, no one wants to watch my let's plays but my shenanigans/highlights videos do well and get the most viewership. Lucky for me i enjoy making highlight videos the problem is making them everyday is my hurdle since It relies on groups of people playing with you to which my friends are usually unavailable because of Uni
 
I don't think one is more important than the other. To be honest, I would rather have more subs than views, because the subs are the people that make you big at the end of the day.
