Upgrade Your Gaming Performance on Your Channel

I've Got It
If you aren't happy with the quality or performance of your games, the easiest upgrade is a new graphics card. I suggest the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 TI. It doubled the quality of my gaming, and therefore doubled the quality of my videos. Hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade.

If my current graphics card wasn't in the process of dying on me, it would actually still be a good card. If I could afford it, I'd replace mine ASAP, but I just can't right now. Also that card wouldn't work for me ... I need one with a full HDMI port (not just a mini-HDMI port)

It is not only the video card that you want to improve performance but it is also the CPU you have. Beforehand I had (Aug 2009 to Sept 2013) an older Athlon 64 3600+ 2 core 1.9 Ghz with my Radeon 7850 HD 2GB (purchased Apr 2013) but I was getting just a partial performance boost. When I upgraded the CPU to the Athlon 2 X3 450 3 core 3.2 Ghz, there was a huge performance boost.

RAM can also be a secondary or tertiary performance increase, which I need since I still have 4GB of DDR2 RAM.

I have an Intel i7 CPU and 16GB of RAM. I'm fine on all those. It's my GPU that's dying - causing display issues in my games, making my video renders very slow, etc.

Most of the time, the GPU will show the biggest performance increase along with the CPU close to that. Then, after that RAM is a good boost, but usually just if you are using lots of it. But when on a budget, I would go for GPU.

They normally give adapters with those types of cards. At least when I was still working in IT retail about a year ago, every card that came with a mini HDMI port came with an adapter. You can always check the box if it's a non-sealed box or ask staff from wherever you're buying it.

I would personally recommend aiming for a 760TI or better a 770 without really breaking the bank if you're planning on gaming a lot, the higher you go the better but the 750s are only just leaving entry level gaming cards. If you're not playing heavy stuff than a 750 is more than enough, even the GT series would suffice lol

Well my current card is an AMD/ATI 7870. I'm less familiar with the nVidia brand models. I play games like WoW, Diablo III, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, The Sims 3 (soon the Sims 4), etc. ... so I know my next cart will have to be fairly decent.

From what I remember even the AMD cards came with the adapters when they had mini HDMI, although I think they used slightly different 1s. I know the 760+ won't need HDMI adapters but not sure about the higher end AMDs as most of them had normal HDMI anyways, I think there's a new series of AMD cards the R9X or something like that too.

Yeah but what I heard is that the R9x cards are nearly identical to the 7800 series cards. Just with a few modifications, not a lot of upgrades at all. In either case I have to wait since I just can't afford much of anything right now. Gotta pay the mortgage first.
