Unfair

I believe people are taking this way to seriously. He isn't instagating anything so drop that. I understand what he is saying but it is true that its just the way things are. That's life, if people are good enough they will be recongised. You don't reach the top instantly. It takes time so just chill out and understand both sides of the story.

Speaking as someone who's recently "hit the wall" I can say that the urge to just give up is almost overwhelming... The complete lack of any interest in your videos is so disappointing that sometimes I just don't bother to check my views or comments, because neither will have gone up after a week of being up. Add in the fact that I do a fair amount of PR and advertising and you can say that for smaller channels, especially in the beginning, it can be devastating seeing all your hard work go down the drain...

I obviously cannot speak for the larger channels out there, the truly "great" channels I watch obviously spend a lot of time making and producing their videos, but I can agree on one thing: it's difficult, if not impossible for a small channel to break out these days!

Do you ever get the notion that Youtube is unfair? Because I sure as hell do.

Some people upload every day, and work very hard, and get little to no growth.
Whilst I promised my subscribers to do a Let's play at 10.000 subscribers, and I managed to get to 15.000 before even recording one episode.

Not just that, some people are REALLY funny and creative, they dedicate themselves so much, yet they still don't get it. Then at the same time you'll see someone get millions of views with little to no effort.

I feel like I don't do enough for my subscribers, since theres so many now, and I still can't even keep my promises :C

Basically do you think it's unfair that you have to be big to get bigger theese days?
Well yes I agree it's unfair, but not really so much because youtube is unfair, more just because life is unfair. This is how business works too, it takes money to make money, the guy with the hand me down nest egg is on easy street while the guy working his a** off is making minimum wage, I work 10 times as hard as some well to do individuals and can't even afford a place of my own. I mean... that's life. Yes it's unfair, but that's not really news to me.[DOUBLEPOST=1367877245,1367877209][/DOUBLEPOST]

I hear you, it went from replying to "ganging up" on him really quick. That's unfair as well.

For me, these kinds of threads should have some positive points and since he didn't offer any, it was hard to take it as anything except, let's all come here to vent our frustrations.

And most of these threads are started by this OP, initially stating how he finds it unfair on smaller guys yet somehow finding the time to plug his own rapidly growing channel. Way to rub it in much, man ;) I've seen him start way too many of these kinds of threads to keep a still tongue any more... and with regards to my previous contribution to the thread I'd like to think it was a constructive contribution to the thread as opposed to joining in with the bash-wagon, but as I feel like the above posts may have included my contribution then I feel it only fair to defend myself.

I didn't mean to gang up on anyone....I'm sorry if I came across that way. You see, I also used to think Youtube was unfair to people, when I first started. But watching channels grow, and watching channels stay stagnant, I understand fully, what Youtube is all about, and I understand now, HOW people get to where they are.

Please, don't hold back the secret ;)
