Trying to gain subscribers is disheartening

Hello all,

I have been posting on YouTube for around six months now. In this time, I have seen a massive improvement in the quality of my videos. I feel that I am improving with every post, finding new techniques to implement and using new hardware and software.

Despite this, I am really struggling to gain any interest in my channel. My goal for the year is to gain 10 subscribers (4 at the minute). It is becoming disheartening to feel a personal improvement in my content without any growth in my channel.

Anyway, my question. How do you guys deal with the lows of YouTube?
 
I deal with the lows by really focusing on what I put out, and if it is something I am proud of then I am happy! I would say dont look to much at numbers (even though thats hard) and just keep doing what you love!
 
A lot of people make great content but don't get recognised for it. My advice to you is not to look at your subs, just make content because you enjoy it. If you don't enjoy it you shouldn't be making them in the first place. Don't give up the day you stop might be the day you would of got noticed.
 
I focus very much on the videos. However, I do try to learn one new thing every week (I'd like to say "every day," but that's a little bit much) about how to get my content to more people. So one week, I'll play around with my descriptions. Another week, I'll try something new with social media. A few weeks ago, I changed my thumbnails completely, and that cause a noticeable jump in my views, which felt terrific! So maybe trying to frame it more as learning about the process of getting viewers/subscribers and putting it into action than being sad that you don't have subscribers?

Hmm 4 subs in 6 months is pretty low in my opinion, but don't let that put you down. If you improve your videos all the, subs will arrive in time. Maybe collab with other youtubers, reach out to people on social media, ask family and friends to check out your channel, have a good look at your own videos and see what needs improving... HANG IN THERE BUDDY! I know that this can be very tough (Some buddies of mine experienced the same thing) but you just gotta continue creating better content each and everyday and you will get recognized! That might not be want you want to hear but it's definitely the truth. Oh and try to work some more on your SEO, that's really critical in getting what you want on YouTube! Nonetheless, just keep creating dude!
 
Numbers are numbers, if you do it because you enjoy it then all of that's irrelevant and you'll never dwell upon it.
 
Hey Billy.

I looked at the description and tags of your latest video and can see that you aren't really using this area at all. That is where you are going to be able to get your video into the searches relevant to your video topic. Doing this will enable people to find you.

Check out the link already posted but I would also search Roberto Blake on YouTube and check out his channel review series where he goes over everything that channel should be doing to improve.

Maybe add some more playlists to your channel page so people get an idea of all the content you have to offer. Then make the descriptions of those playlists SEO (keyword) friendly for another chance to show up in search.
