I keep trying to find all these ways to get more subscribers and viewers and stuff but like...why? The fun part is making the videos, even if people don't watch them it doesn't take away from the fun of it. Of course it's nice to be like, "Hey! Someone watched my video!" But it's for ME. Anyways, that's it lol

Because I tend to walk around talking to myself so I want to record it, store it somewhere where it won't just kill my computer, and so that when I Vlog my family can keep up with me.

I think that's a good attitude to have. ^^ I have a similar attitude where I just want to make music and learn about video editing/music production. If people want to watch, that's great! If not, oh well lol . I have yet to advertise my content, and I think it has been magically working out. I have no idea where my subscribers came from, but I appreciate their support. I have noticed that as more people watch, my point of view is starting to change and I'm becoming more self-conscious about what I post... But at the end of the day, it's my channel and I can do what I want with it. ^^

And vlogs are great for helping keep up with other family members. I'm sure your parents especially like being able to see you. My mom told me she likes being able to see me whenever she wants. We don't get to see each other very often, so hearing her say that made me happy. ^^

I think there's a good balance. Certainly, making videos is something we do for ourselves, but it's not like we want to do it in a vacuum. There can be some promotion that's necessary to find an audience, especially given the millions and millions of YouTube videos being published every day. So there's always going to be a little bit of salesmanship along with the video creation. That's the ever-present issue with artists...how much time do we take making things, and how much time do we take trying to promote the things we make?

I have fun making the videos. Also drinking the beers. But I do like watching the numbers to. It's been down for my channel most of the summer but I like to just sit here and watch the views in real time sometimes.
