Too many gaming channels now?

I'm tired of getting shitted on and stereotyped because i'm a gaming channel. We work just as hard as everyone else.

So true!... It takes some time to record the perfect gameplay and then do a 10 minute commentary over the gameplay (if you do that) and that can take up to hour to do because you may have to write a script for it or re-record it if something goes wrong in the process of doing it.

Not to mention if you do montages, it takes FOREVER to edit everything together perfectly...

That's what I'm saying. I don't s**t on Vlogging and other types of channels because I wouldn't know what the hell i'm talking about. I'd appreciate if everybody just stayed in their lane. If you put out 111 gaming videos over 4 months, then i'll at least listen to what you have to say about gaming channels even though I still won't agree with it.

Tired of the little shots at gaming channels. We work hard as hell.

Oh god yes, montages take forever plus you have the chance of rendering it out for hours and then watching it only to find out there is something wrong with the montage. So if people say the gaming scene is easy to do... Well I think people should re-think that and maybe try it... because I will tell you one thing and probably its the same for other gaming channels is we have to think of the different series we can do, we have to make the commentary, we have to play good in the game for good quality video's, we have to sit there editing it for hours and then compete against thousands and thousands of other gaming YouTubers for the views and subscribers. So my opinion the gaming scene is hard, you have to put effort in or the outcome will be nothing.

It truly is difficult for new/small gaming channels (like me) out there to get heard of. I do see these vids saying "How to grow your gaming channel on youtube" with so many comments. And what are they? You guessed it, small gaming channels advertising themselves by spamming in the comments. When I see how many there are, I realize that there're so many other channels like me out there. And most of these comments get spammed/never go noticed/ignored. Which is somewhat a shame if some of them actually post high-quality and entertaining content.

This thread overall, and this post, both remind me of why so many YouTubers fail. Why are people trying to advertise their channels so blatantly? If you joined YouTube in the hopes of becoming "famous" or "popular" someday, then you're not going to go far. I'm not sure what constitutes as small for a gaming channel, but I only just recently hit 407 subs which in the grand scheme of YouTube I deem a small amount. People keep giving me advice like, post more videos to get more subs or get better quality equipment...but I don't know why they are telling me this as I post my videos as a hobby for fun. Yes, it's awesome seeing the sub number going up which tells me there are people who like what I make, but even if I only had 10 subs, I would keep posting content. It's all about your personality, your ideas, and your attitude. If people like you, great, you will see it in the numbers, but I'm happy where I am now having a handful of viewers who watch every one of my new videos and interact with me. As for what I think of small channels (especially gaming), what's wrong with them? That's like telling someone they can't start playing baseball because there are too many people playing baseball in this world already. If you have good content and don't come off as trying to advertise the s**t out of yourself...I'll support you as a sub! :)

Yep, some post really good stuff, but others post really bad stuff. Recorded with a webcam and a laptop mic. Now thats bad!
Some YouTubers like TheSyndicateProject started off with a camera of his dads, now look at him! Got over a million subs, flys to America every couple of months. :)

I think most gaming channels are still small regardless if they have good content or not is because of the amount of competition in that genre of videos. There are loads of gamers trying to be the next famous gamer which makes it even harder for smaller channels to grow. I think gaming channels are good, but I think you need a good personality to keep your viewers captivated and for your channel to really stand out!

What you said there at the last was entirely true and contradicted what I said earlier. Thanks for that and I'll take note of it. Also very many thanks for the sub as well. You got 409 now too! But that's not because I wanted to return the favor (Well probably a little) I checked your channel and you actually got some great content! Happy Wheels, Cat Mario, PokeMMO, nice!

I think that for the gaming channels that put out good content, more power to 'em. For ones that put no effort into their videos, I dunno. I mean, it is a free country and all, but just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I fully understand you, gaming takes FOREVER. You have to get good footage, make a script and then say the script without making any errors. Then you got to edit the video make sure everything's in-sync. Then render it which can take up to 3 hours for me!
