To All You Let's Players

I Love YTtalk
I have a question for you.

Anyone who has actually committed to Let's Playing knows it's a pretty time intensive process to consistently shovel out content.

So I wonder.

Throughout your Let's Play experience. What have been the biggest obstacles for you? Your biggest frustrations, largest time delayers, hardest tasks to accomplish.

Was it learning your programs? Figuring out what games to play? Trying to be creative with artwork or commentary? Having enough energy to record? ANYTHING ELSE?!!?

Just curious.

^^Well, i don't do commentary but i think the editing process is biggest obstacle for most Let's Players. Choosing a game is a piece of cake, there are millions of games to play or just play your favorite game you always wanted to record.

I usually record in big chunks. Let's say I play for 2 hours and then I edit it down into several episodes.

Sometimes I get comfortable just uploading those and not playing the game for some days. When I need to play the game again I sometimes don't have the energy.

Hehe.. all of ze above. I guess it starts viz being able to test out the right software to capture the screen, I'm not fully happy with the one I'm currently using. Then it is the editing, the facecam mainly, to achieve what I want I have to do 2 renders, one for the facecam and another for the whole video, I takes time on my sloooooowly computer...

The hardest thing is however, I tjink, standing out, getting people to actually watch ur stuff and not think "just another generic LP"

How about you??

When did Dracula become German? :D

I would have to say uploading especially if you monetize your stuff and after waiting 30 minutes to an hour and see that some randomized company "apparently" has a claim on the content which just usually ends in waiting a month after them not responding to have them release the video back to you :p and I guess getting permission is a harder one to

I quit LP's simply because it took too much time to edit and upload. It got a bit faster once I figured out that I should convert the .mov's the mp4's before uploading to speed up the process. But regardless it was really time intensive and I'm not sure if I'd start doing it again.

I would say being entertaining with my commentary is the hardest part for me. Since I am not the most sociable panda, sometimes I even get into the game a little too much I forget I am recording and forget to commentate lol

Hardest part for me is to record, since they are constructing in my house and I live with my parents is hard to get them to be quiet and it's hard to record console games since the hd tv is downstairs and so is the internet cable for my xbox and all that x.x Also college attacking me.
