To All You Let's Players

In my own experience, it is hardest to do collaborations with other YouTubers. Being scattered across the many continents, time zones, and gamestyles makes it hard to arrange anything.

Solo, I have very few problems and, in January, decided to push myself to produce at least one video for each and every day for an entire year. Now, in mid-October, I have managed to succeed thus far and have not missed a single day, even with scheduling things which require collaboration.

Editing is fun (for me), and compiling takes very little time on my beasts of machines, even in 1920 x 1080p (which is what I record in).

I suppose my hardest part is figuring out what to talk about, since I am presently in legal difficulties (evil ex-wife) and can't talk about my real life at the moment for fear it will be used against me in court. Thus, finding something completely impersonal to talk about for 2.5 hours every week is a bit difficult.

That reminds me. I have a good GPU and CPU, and 8gb of Ram. Would it be worthwhile upgrading to 16gb or even 32GB of RAM to help with the processing time on the editing of videos within my computer?

I have a question for you.

Anyone who has actually committed to Let's Playing knows it's a pretty time intensive process to consistently shovel out content.

So I wonder.

Throughout your Let's Play experience. What have been the biggest obstacles for you? Your biggest frustrations, largest time delayers, hardest tasks to accomplish.

Was it learning your programs? Figuring out what games to play? Trying to be creative with artwork or commentary? Having enough energy to record? ANYTHING ELSE?!!?

Just curious.

The biggest obstacles for me is lack of professional editing software and games that have a whole lot of hype that I can run on my computer.
Right now I'm stuck running generic games like minecraft and hl2. Never a fun time but I found a way to make it work for the time being XD

CPU RAM has very little to do with video processing time. GPU RAM has MUCH more to do with video processing times.

I went from two computers, essentially identical. One had 12GB CPU RAM and 1GB GPU RAM, while the other had 4GB CPU RAM and 2GB GPU RAM.

The 4/2 machine compiles videos about 3x faster than the 12/1 machine. Thus, getting CPU RAM is not appropriate for video editing, get more GPU RAM (and a faster GPU processor, if you can).

Ah fair enough, I see. Yeah, got a GTX 760 with 2GB GPU ram, and my CPU has 8GB ram right now, so I suppose it is not too bad at all.
