Tips on first vlog?

I wanted to know this aswell as I am helping a friend set up his vlogging channel and I'm not sure about promoting vlogging videos and stuff due to me been a gaming based channel!
 
I am not a huge person interested in vlogs. But I would say talking about a topic you know a lot, be confident in your speaking, practice at looking at the camera and be confident about the topic you are talking about. Not the greatest but some basic ones.

I'd search on Google something like "Top Daily Vloggers on YouTube" or something like that & check out a few of the channels that come up. That way you can get an idea of what some of the best & most popular daily vloggers are doing and it gives you some ideas to help your friend.

Definitely edit it so that it's entertaining and doesn't drag on for the viewer.
Give people a reason to want to watch videos about your life.
ALSO, it's going to be so awesome to look back on your videos one day. It's lots of fun. Good luck!
