Tips for Tagging Videos?

Hey YT people,

I was just curious about peoples tagging practices as I feel that I could possibly improve the tags I've put in my videos.

Personally I use a mixture of general and specific tags for example if I were to upload an Evil Within gameplay video I would tag:

Beastby Gaming, The Evil Within, The Evil Within Gameplay, The Evil Within Lets play, Jumps scares, survival horror game etc etc

Does repeating the game title and adding a keyword for a tag work or is YouTube smart enough to combine tags?

I've been looking at the tags in the source code for certain videos but there's no way of knowing if those tags were effective or not. Some YouTubers are lazy with tags but do really well and others go to town on their tags and also do well. I know it's content that drives success but I feel people shouldn't under estimate the effectiveness of tags.

Don't repeat the tags, make all words separated. For example

gaming game video videos vid lol fun funny Beastby Gaming Evil Within comment commentary comments overview channel scare scared scary

etc etc

You see I think individual words wouldn't be as effective as seperate words. Having a tag such as "Evil Within Gameplay" will surely be more effective as people will be searching that exact term. I don't think anyone would just search the words "gameplay", "lol" or "scare" and hope to find the video they are looking for.

Like I said on linked thread, you should use relevant tags, that's obvious, and mix search terms into the one tag, like "The Evil Within", that whole name should be its own tag, also mix them into the tags and sentences in your description, like "The Evil Within, new survival horror", already I have Survival Horror being mixed into the description and tags and same goes for "The Evil Within" which is also going to be in the title of the video.

You should title and tag your video what people searching in the searchbar on Youtube and Google. I have almost 2 million views on my gaming channel so its working i guess.
