Thumbnail with fonts are they considered copyright?

Fonts can be copyrighted just like music and video.

Believe it or not, that's false. Font's actually cannot be copyrighted at least in the United States. Read the Wikipedia article "Intellectual property protection of typefaces".

Keep in mind though that while the design of the fonts cannot be copyrighted, they can still be copyrighted as software. I'm not a lawyer and I really don't understand it fully, but my interpretation is that you can get in trouble for sharing the font file, but not the design... Or something like that.

I kind of get the idea o_o

so i was right?
Well kind of. It won't matter if you use a font, but if you go distributing the files you will get in trouble. Also, they definitely CAN tell whether it's their font. I don't think you understand how much time and effort goes into designing a font. I reccomend a documentary called "Helvetica".

That's why I used the term "can" instead of "are". The computer program font issue has to do with the font files themselves, so font visible in a video would be considered "rasterized" and thus exempt. Keep in mind that not everyone is in the US however.

In the US the most extreme case that could be applicable might be piracy of the font file which is unlikely to be pursued as they would have to prove you stole it.

Anything* created is copyrighted, no matter what all the aspiring lawyers say on this thread.
Buy a $20 pack of 1000 fonts cleared for commercial use on the popular website..

And this is how it applies to YouTube.

You may use and distribute an electronic document with any typeface as you pointed out.
However the word "rasterize" has been brought up in this thread for good point, as you are producing an image and therefor as all created work is copyrighted* you would be subject to any legal action the copyright holder wished to enact on you.

Do not obtain legal information over the internet, as nobody is in this thread including myself is 100% correct.
