The Vlogger Survey

Oh I like this idea :D

Are your vlogs primarily "daily vlogs", rants, or sketches with set-ups?
180 (or so) of my vlogs are "daily vlogs", but I recently made the switch over to different types of vlogs like rants or sketches. I did daily vlogs for 6 months.

Do you script your vlogs, or are they free-form?
My vlogs are all free-form, though very few are loosely scripted.

How long on average do you spend researching/planning?
I don't have many research required vlogs, but when I do a vlog that requires research, I usually take an hour or two.

Where do your ideas come from?
Things that happen throughout my day. I also look at other vloggers (JoeyGraceffa, Marcus Butler, Pointlessblog, Shane, and Sawyer Hartman to make a few) and see what kind of ideas they are doing, and make my own version of it. (I never copy them).

What's your shooting setup (tech, setting, etc)?
Canon Powershot ELPH 110 HS, a random place in my apartment for the backdrop, a tri-pod, and a lamp for lighting. Nothing fancy, but it works!

Are you a sitting or standing vlogger?
I'm a mixture of both.

How long on average do you spend shooting ?
The time varies. Probably about 20 minutes all together. My daily "take a long" videos might vary, depending on how much I vlogged during the day.

On average, how many takes do you do for a single clip?
I try to go for 1 take, but sometimes I end up taking 5 or so takes for one clip. Sometimes I will make my vlog in one take for the first time, and re-do it so I know what to say the second time around.

Do you shoot a video all in one sitting, or do you take breaks?
A mixture of both. For my daily "take a long" vlogs, I take breaks, but for my more "professional" vlogs (I don't really know how to word it), I take it all in one sitting.

What editing software do you use?
iMovie 11

Do you tend to edit your vlogs tighly, or do you prefer to have pauses?
My editing is more loose. There is pauses in-between my thoughts, but not long pauses.

How often do you vlog?
I used to vlog daily, but recently made the switch to a couple times a week because it was getting to stressful and I wasn't having fun with it. I did daily vlogs for 6 months.

your all so smart coming up with everything I wish I was smarter but my views just like seeing what I do even talking so I think I'm doing fine

Oh! Can I fill this out since we "vlog" on Mondays? Vlog is such a loose term, but I consider any video where you're directly addressing your audience as yourself, a vlog.

Are your vlogs primarily "daily vlogs", rants, or sketches with set-ups?
Our vlogs tend to mainly be challenges or games. Sometimes we vary and do something like a list video (i.e. my 10 Passive Aggressive Christmas Gift Ideas).

Do you script your vlogs, or are they free-form?
Contrary to our sketches, our vlogs are never scripted out. We always just turn the camera on and go. But again, that's because we don't do a lot of discussion vlogs.

How long on average do you spend researching/planning?
Our vlogs hardly have any pre-planning. We normally come up with our vlog ideas the day of and shoot/record/edit on Monday.

Where do your ideas come from?
We always try and think of something that would visually fun for our audience to watch. It's our chance for them to get to know us on a personal level, so we keep that in mind when thinking of ideas.

What's your shooting setup (tech, setting, etc)?
We shoot with a Cannon T4i and two Coyboy Studio Umbrella lights we got from Amazon. Normally we record our vlogs in front of our white wall.

Are you a sitting or standing vlogger?
We almost always sit in chairs. Sometimes we do stand though, but that's normally only if we're announcing something.

How long on average do you spend shooting ?
Probably 20 minutes total, by the time we are actually all sitting down and ready to start filming.

On average, how many takes do you do for a single clip?
Normally we just press record and start doing our thing. There will sometimes be parts that we repeat for one reason or another, but on average it's just one long take.

Do you shoot a video all in one sitting, or do you take breaks?
One sitting.

What editing software do you use?
Final Cut Pro X

Do you tend to edit your vlogs tighly, or do you prefer to have pauses?
I like editing tightly. But not too tight. I don't remove every little pause because I want our vlogs to feel like you're just hanging out with us. But I also try to keep them short and flowing smoothly.

How often do you vlog?
