The Sub # is Not Everything

Im at around 46% but I am seeing increases with each video. The quality of my videos are improving greatly which I think is the main thing. Subscriber numbers are an easy way to stay motivated and continue to strive to produce better content especially early on.

I find this funny most of my videos sit at the norm of youtube 30-40% YAYAY for holding the line. But the one video that holds up better then all my others is Stay on top!!!!! 76%. Ya the biggest that is what she said joke you could make and it holds the viewers the best.

99.9% of the new YouTubers have the expectation they are going to make it big. Of those only a fraction of a percent actually get there. I joined YouTube for the sole purpose to talk about things I want to talk about, share a sliver of my life with the masses and upload car shows and other things that interest me. Sure, it's awesome that one of my videos passed 20K, and my channel just went above 1K subscribers. But I am the same as I was starting out. Doing my own thing, and no matter what the numbers do, I will continue to do my own thing. Numbers mean nothing to me. 100 views? It's all good. 10 dislikes on a video? Who cares. I do it for my own entertainment and feed a troll (or am one myself at times when people rub me the wrong way).

I have had some pretty awesome subscribers since practically day one. More are always welcome, but are they needed? Not at all. I am having all the fun I can have, and will continue to do so. If Subscribers / Views / Money are of the reasons you want to join YouTube just don't. Nothing but misery will be on your path because you are focused on the wrong thing. Focus on your content and being a real person instead of a fake and you'll grow.

I have a feeling that someone who spends 15 minutes watching a channel's videos without necessarily finishing them might be a better statistic than someone who watched two 3-minute videos all the way through.. I'm guessing that retention time for each video is important, but I think keeping someone on your channel is more important..

I like that mindset! I've been trying to stop caring about numbers, and just focus on having fun. Numbers don't matter if you're having fun! : D

Retention is key. Once I break the average 30 second barrier I have been getting on my 2 hour videos I will feel I have really succeeded.

38%.... But I haven't been active for 6 months and the types of videos I am going to be posting had around 60% retention and sometimes even more with some solid retention rates.

So hopefully when I start posting very soon I can up that average :)[DOUBLEPOST=1430180332,1430180273][/DOUBLEPOST]38%.... But I haven't been active for 6 months and the types of videos I am going to be posting had around 60% retention and sometimes even more with some solid retention rates.

Last time I check my retention rate was at about 29%. I still have some work to do I think so hopefully that gets better :)
