I see Google continuing to evolve YouTube, so I don't think YouTube itself will die, as much as morph into something that one day may not be recognizable to those of us who were there at the beginning.

Saying youtube will die is like saying 4chan will die.

Both are too big to die. They're pretty much self-sustaining websites.
They said that too about the Roman Empire as well. I mean, if you think about it, nothing lasts forever.
I'm not sure when or how, but YouTube will be gone soon or later. And I think people shouldn't take it for granted....even with all the mistakes and bugs and glitches, it's still the best choice.
Youtube only dies when internet dies.
I think it's the most visited site on the entire internet or second visited after google.

Anyway I can't imagine they will ever pull out the plug or that people stop uploading their videos.
This sounds pretty reasonable honestly.
You did not get my point. I have been on youtube since 2006. Its getting more and more like TV. Youtube was a vlogging platform. As a vlogging platform, its getting worse and worse.
YouTube has never been a vlogging platform nor was it made specifically for vlogging. Vlogging is what users have turned YT in, along with gamers, etc.
One of the creators, Hurley, said that it was made because he needed a place to share his homemade videos. Later, the idea evolved into a place for people to post creative videos and whatnot, it has never been a vlogging platform (I would say there are a ton of vloggers today, though).

So, I'm still confused as what you mean. I will agree that YouTube is more like TV to a lot, but I still use it as a place to watch quick videos. I.e. less than 10 minutes.

If a new video site pops up, I'll start uploading my content on both because I would be more of a niche on the new site :)

Exactly! If that website gains viewership, you will be already established. Now if it is another popular website that is adding video-watching capabilities, it would still be beneficial to be an early adopter.

Not gonna lie, I would do the same thing.
Though, there is that awesome feeling you get when you start from the bottom, literally, and work your way to the top.

I really don't understand how people say that "youtube is collapsing gahh run blah blah". Now don't get me wrong, regardless of me not caring about the comments and as of yet I am completely unaffected by the content ID changes, it's a pretty proposterous accusation. Gamers do currently make up a good proportion of the top and rising channels, but I can assure you from the 5 or so years of spending many a weekend on youtube, there are so many other popular channels outside this category.
All things considered this a massive site and yes this was true of myspace, but I kind of feel that the community and such is too strong, and too tied to mainstream media to just dissipate.
If I was to hazard a guess as to how it may die my theory is as such:
Many youtubers are transitioning to subbable, a similar site allowing for crowdfunding type revenue, rather than ad based. If enough youtubers transfer and make profit there will be less youtube traffic. In my eyes, one of the main draws of youtube is the low entry level allowing for anyone to start. With decreasing traffic and decreasing views low end e.g. <100 subbed channels stop posting and may also stop viewing. This means the middle band channels (say 1,000-50,000 subs) stay on, but may transition to subbable if they feel that they can do better. Ultimately the platform may not die out, but most of creators will and while it won't kill the platform it would be maimed to say the least.
