YouTube doesn't compare to MySpace at all.

MySpace was all about me-me-me except for the bands that promoted themselves.

YouTube is about creating content for the viewer.

youtube is dying. The youtube we know. Yes, it will go up in revenue and profits and users and content and blah blah, but it is eventually going to become like the idiot box.
The youtube for the common vlogger...? Well its not the same.
Maybe vimeo will take up the charge(I know many people in the artistic/photographic time lapse scene have moved there). Or maybe there will be another contender.
There is one thing though, youtube has the power of google behind it, and that counts for a lot.

Yeah, lets be fair, I dont think Youtube will evver completely die out, especially given how popular it is, and especially amongst the casual market. Myspace died out because it could not keep up with the times and new developments, whilst Youtube is constantly evolving to meet demand and evolving in a reactionary measure to go with the flow

I just used MySpace as an example of an extremely popular site that had a huge downfall. It probably won't be as drastic but it gets the point across by what I mean by a website dying.

That's your opinion, but I have to disagree. It will DIE eventually, but right now, YouTube is at its top of the entire competition.

The only thing I fear would be the lack of Yttalk LOL once YT Kicks the bucket. </3[DOUBLEPOST=1387197222,1387197127][/DOUBLEPOST]
Youtube is like television. Youtube will die when television does.
Well, if you go by that knowledge, YouTube has DECADES before it dies.

You did not get my point. I have been on youtube since 2006. Its getting more and more like TV. Youtube was a vlogging platform. As a vlogging platform, its getting worse and worse.

I was actually surprised to see the thread title. Shouldn't the topic be more "The DAY television fails"?
I get the point, any website is in danger of missing out on the next hype and die. That's why they have to re-invent themselves. Something MySpace forgot to do. Google messed up a few things recently but if people think that the G+ comments thing or the latest Let's Players chaos will be its downfall, I'd say they're wrong. YouTube grew well without LPs and could as well survive without them. The thing is, someone else would have to be able to do it better first. Any anyone setting up a site like YouTube allowing videogamers to upload whatever they want while still monetizing it WILL run into trouble. Because what COULD finish YT quickly could be a court shutting down the site. I seriously don't think that Google wanted to f/(k the LPers, they "just" shot way beyond the target (and that's something I noticed more than once with Google recently) and now have to clean up the mess.

The fall of Myspace was certainly an interesting thing to see. I remember always hearing about it back in the days. Now you never hear a peep about it.

YouTube is different though, and I don't think anything will replace it for at least another 20-30 years, if not more. It's just too big of a beast now.

Saying youtube will die is like saying 4chan will die.

Both are too big to die. They're pretty much self-sustaining websites.

Youtube only dies when internet dies.
I think it's the most visited site on the entire internet or second visited after google.

Anyway I can't imagine they will ever pull out the plug or that people stop uploading their videos.
