Tell us YOUR story of creating a video!

My method is to basically record myself doing as much stuff as possible... Then go through the video later and edit out which parts I think are alright and make a video out of it.

1. Have idea
2. Record more footage than I need so I can edit it (Panasonic SD 90, tripod and 2 64LED lights)
3. Transfer to computer, convert to .avi format
4. Import to Windows Movie Maker (still the best and quickest software I've used for quick editing) and edit - usually starting with previous template
5. Write a script for the video (if I didn't speak during filming - I prefer to script because it sounds lot better both in sound quality and presentation)
6. Narrate it (Samson Condensor Mic)
7. Sort out titles
8. Publish to WMA
9. Convert to mv4 (I have serious bandwidth issues so I need to get my file sizes down as much as possible, don't like to but need to)
10. Upload when it's time to upload (I often make several videos at once and then ration them out over time)
10.1 Annotations (a real ball-ache because there's no way to do templates
10.2 Word tags (a real ball-ache because I can't copy and paste from a notepad template now because of the stupid way you put in tags)
10.3 Create thumbnail (create in word and then screenshot with picpic)
10.4 Write a brief description
10.5 Depending on video, go to relevant forums I'm active in and post on them (I have stickied threads in tablet technology forums because I've built up a large amount of content

The average video probably takes 2-3 hours from start to finish. A couple will take less. Some take considerable more time. Longest single video took about 30-40 hours and that was a 40 minute feature review for a tablet.

Last year I made 380 videos. Obviously just a little more than one a day.

It's pretty much a second part-time to full-time job at the moment but it's slowing paying off.

Sounds good, I shall subscribe in the morning once I have done all my morning goodness!

Okay this one's a little long compared to dem (pure) gamers here...

1. Receive idea from the heavenly realms of comedy/vlog/anything video idea world and jot it down on my notepad (physical or digital)
2. Let the idea sit for a day/week/fortnight/month/year
3. Look through ideas and suddenly remember this particular one and just mentally brainstorm how to make it (basically storyboarding but a lazy way to do it)
4a. Setup my tripod, snap my camera to it
4b. Alternatively, turn on Screenflow on my mac or Fraps/Bandicam/Dxtory on my PC
5. Talk... Act... Game... Whatever...
6. Look through footage, if it's good, go on...
7. Move my project files to proper folders (I'm a little OCD about this)
8. Edit with Screenflow/Sony Vegas/iMovie
9. Make graphics with Photoshop CS5
10. Render the video
11. Make the thumbnail while the video is rendering
12. upload. yay.
13. Profit ???

:3 Sounds good!

And for me, it's:

1. Plug in Elgato and load up the game and Audacity.
2. Play game for about 10-15 minutes.
3. Put files together in Windows Movie Maker.
4. Upload to Youtube through Windows Movie Maker.

Pretty simple process, I think, and it works like a charm.
