Swearing in Videos Bad?

I just do it naturally. I don't hold back. I don't swear for the sake of sweating on purpose though, but when I do, I just do. I never said my vids are for kids...

I had a co-worker that wanted her son to see my vids once. I told her to watch the lets plays because there isn't any swearing in those particular episodes but to avoid the main show.

I try to stay with stuff that is more towards the adult crowd but apparently I am supposed to worry about if their children hear it also... I mean what do they do not watch p**n because the kid might see it? If he was right after all that means PewDiePie, Markiplier, Yogscast, and any other gaming channel are clean mouthed child friendly affairs.

Apparently some people haven't heard of "Rated R Movies"

I just got off the phone with an ex-coworker of mine who was quite drunk to say the least. And he went on and on about how I swear in my videos and how that's fine but gave me the "What about the Children!" rant. And it went on and on looping in a circle with literally "I watch your videos on the way home. I love your videos, I love your commentary, but when my wife says "he has a potty mouth" that makes me have to mute it. And what if my daughter hears that she picks up on that stuff". I mean this went on and on for like 2 hours between that and some other stupid stuff that's completely idiotic and irrelevent.
That is idiotic. Just because content is public, doesn't mean it should be all ages.

ABC (the tv network) has more viewers and success then anything online and they don't swear and a lot of it is family programming where it plays to all audiences.

Some of the most popular shows on television are absolutely filled with vulgar language.

And ABC has more viewers because television has been part of the public consumption for far longer than any Youtube channel. There's still a lot of people who aren't really aware of Youtube outside of Vevo and cat videos.

Depends on who you want your audience to be.. If you want to reach a broader audience I would cut down on the swear words and cussing..

As @symphonious7 has pointed out cutting back wont cut your audience it might actually grow your audience.

However if you are doing reviews or lets play of GTA or another Mature Game... little kids shouldn't be watching those anyway.
