Super Lame Results when I thought this video will be "the one" - Can you relate?

Ok, so like a light bulb coming on I have an idea I think is fantastic, and I immediately begin to bust my tail putting everything together. I've seen similar videos with millions of views, and I think "mine will be different, unique, and stand out from them all". So the day comes and I post it, expecting great things to happen. The next day I check the stats and only 10 views, and some of those were mine! Now a couple days later only 17 views. I've optimized with the title, description and tags, I've linked to it and shared it on Twitter and Facebook, and LAME-O results. Have you been there? Well, I figured if I can at least encourage someone who's going through the same thing, I'll share about it. It can make you want to throw in the towel, but I'm not giving up and neither should YOU!
markkaz is on point. I think you were kind of late to the giant gummy thing. I made one too and it was kind of in the nick of time. There were some videos out but not too many and with the right seo mine landed on 2nd page of how to make giant gummy coca cola bottle search. And i assume because of higher retention rate it slowly moved its way up on the first page. It was at like the 6th spot at one point. But now theres too many gummy videos and mine is moving down. I dont think i would be able to duplicate the rate of growth if i made the video later. Mine didnt go viral though.

Wow...so 4 months later the video just took off out of no where and now is at over 300,000 views...amazing! So one lesson learned, sometimes it just takes patience! :)

Except that you are hiding your stats. Why would you hide your stats on that one video and not your others?

you just gotta keep putting yourself out there guy, do it long enough, maybe you'll get something back, the universe has a funny way of giving you what you want when you least expect it, hang in there bud

I have stats hidden on all my videos, as far as I can remember. Our channel is still in it's infancy...I also kept subs hidden for a while before. Wasn't sure when to finally "reveal" but felt better after around 40.[DOUBLEPOST=1479511623,1479511494][/DOUBLEPOST]
Weird how the video has 300k views and only 1 person has commented on it.

I've gotten lots of spammy comments which I didn't approve. But I also thought it was weird not so many comments based on views.[DOUBLEPOST=1479511962][/DOUBLEPOST]

In your opinion, is there a benefit to not hiding stats, especially with a new channel? Also, what would you say are the drawbacks to not hiding stats?

I don't think it matters either way. Your viewer demographic is certainly not going to care!

Yup. I find it very hard to predict a video's performance. Sometimes as expected. Other times totally not. I think, though, that as we mature as content creators, we'll get a better feel for this.
