Sudden Dramatic Increase in Subscribers...Confused

Ok,

So, over a month we gain around 80 subscribers and yesterday before 20:00 GMT we were at 752 subscribers, we are now at 1029 but no extra engagements or noticeable video increases.

Without the statistics on YT (need to wait a couple of days) I cannot fathom out where this boost has come from. We are gaining a sub nearly 1 every 2 minutes, then it drops by 100 and climbs again. It is really strange.

Has anyone experienced this? Or does anybody know why this may have occurred?

It is probably a bot :)
Well that's what I thought but I am not a stranger to IT infact I am a performance tester so I understang botting in detail.

The reason why I posted is for several reasons. Why target a small channel? That's a waste of creating a bot in the first place. If they were botted subs then why am I getting sub notifications with some subs having several hunder subs and videos? It makes no logical sense and I was hoping for a better response than 'its a bot' as I have already cancelled out that probability.

I think you hit it dead on the head. Maybe you are not corresponding the subs with the views because of youtubes slow reflection time. Maybe your video was recently shared on a good public forum and is getting positive feedback by getting subs. Very possible that youtube just isnt showing the views yet.

The thing that I do not get though is no engagement at all I mean no mass comments etc. I can understand that YT views can be slow and I have searched Google for all references to our channel...there are a lot of video sites but no blogs etc in the last couple of days.

I am happy but also very cynical at the same time. I just want to know why lol.

If video interaction isn't up, its a high probability its a bot :-) Check that sh*t and find some help to make sure your account doesn't get banned.

I think I have figured it out. Our Fan Finder is now live. It has been in a queue for so long that I forgot about it. This explains the sub growth without engagement or increased views.

At least it makes the most logical sense. Its not a bot. Trust me, I understand how bots work and the only way this could be a bot is if there is a security leak in YT as all the subs are genuine with the majority having several subs or videos with some reaching 100s of either.

It must be that Fan Finder. If it is I recommend you guys make one as our sub growth is now at 42% in two days. I will obviously keep an eye on this Fan Finder to clarify this is the cause of the growth and return here with my findings.

I like how so many people just jump to the conclusion that it's a bot. Bots cost money, and it's not like everyone and their mother has one. I guess when people come across something they don't understand, they blame it on something else they don't understand! Anyway, Fan Finder would certainly explain everything you're describing, but I guess it will be a few days before the analytics come in to be sure. Another possibility (even though it's almost definitely fan finder) would be it was embedded on a popular site or something.
