Subs or Views?

As you said, ideally you want both. But if I had to pick I would say views.

I create content so people can enjoy it, views are the only proven way to know people are actually VIEWING your stuff. However I feel like subscribers motivate a creator to keep the channel going, knowing that people are subscribed to you and waiting to see what your next video is about makes me feel like I want to provide some good videos to my subscribers.

In the end they both go hand and hand.

Definitely views, while it's great to have many subs(I am guessing as I don't lol), it makes no difference if they aren't watching your videos. The more views you get the better places in the search rankings which then equals to more views etc. I mean some small channels may have just their friends and family subbed but how often do you think those people actually watch the videos? So definitely views

i think the subs and view counts are no where near important as the likes and dislikes, because subs don't mean they like your video.. a view doesn't mean they like your video, its not accurate, but likes and dislikes tell you a lot and should be most important for you

My husband told me yesterday "Hey the first video of our trip to Hiroshima has more than 1500 views !" And I have like 300 subs something and he looks creepy on the thumbnail. So I guess views are nice.

But having subs also feel like you are creating a community on your channel. I am glad people decide to join us I know noone in real life :yttalk:

This is a tricky one.

At the end of the day, views are what counts.
BUT... subscribers are the way to get views consistently. Sure, you can have a great video that goes viral resulting in a million views in a week, but that's only short term success. If you want to succeed in long term, you need a consistent source of views.

Views FO SHOW. almost everyone I know doesn't subscribe to youtube channels or even have an account, they will just watch videos that are shared or they have heard about
