Subreddits for YouTube posts

Probably the biggest tip for reddit, is make sure your audience will be impressed ...or don't post. It's a tricky tip, so if you are just learning, you really have to think about where you want to post to make sure your audience thinks 'cool' vs. 'I've see better all the time'. Think outside the box about what audience will be interested. If it's a vlog, but you happen to go to a pumpkin patch, consider not posting in 'r/vlog' where there are sharks, but post in 'r/pumpkins' where you won't get people that will expect Casey or Roman every time.

I have yet to see many views from Reddit. I create travel vlogs, so I'm starting to post in destination specific spots.

I tried to understand on how to use reddit/subreddits but I have no clue at all :eeks: anyone mind shedding some light on this :help:

It's all about building community. If you just post your video, you will get your post removed. If you spend just a little bit of time on a sub, you'll be able to build enough credit to post your videos.

I'm running into a problem where because I talk about various topics, I try sharing on various subreddits...which is leading to me quickly getting a bad rep. I've gotten some flow to certain videos, though. My Deathnote videos are doing pretty good (for me) for example. I'm finding it hard to be active in so many subreddits when a lot of them, while they may have people looking, don't have a lot of other people contributing. Not to mention the subreddits that flat out don't want self promotion at all.

I think I'll just have to push select videos more than others (though that feels counter productive).

Update:
Just got a week ban for promotion. I did see a few subreddits that might be friendlier but I'm not sure if I'll go back or not. It's generated more eyes on my channels but I'd like to be able to promote all my videos. Not just the ones on subjects with subreddits I've posted a lot in. Like I spent a lot of time in the Ghostbusters sub but only made 2 videos on it. it sounds like if you don't have a specialized channel (video games only, for example) it's not a good place to promote.

Yeah self promotion is pretty frowned upon, so make sure to contribute too. If I do just put a link, I really try to make sure it is one that will impress the board. I also follow up my link with an explaining comment. ..and when someone is critical, I always try to see it from their perspective and post accordingly. The board will forgive if you call yourself out first.

Honestly if you have a broad topic I am not sure where you would post at all. My posts work because I contribute on the same board, and they are very specific to the interest on the board.

If you are daily vloggin, the Casey Niestat board has a weekly user contribution thread that can be pretty good. The discussion there used to be pretty good for daily vloggin, but the fans have kinda turned it into something else.

So for a clearer picture, I try to keep a schedule of things on my channel. So Sunday is Anime day (Death Note right now), Monday is "Making A Murderer Monday", Wednesday is K-Pop/J-Pop Time, Thursday is A Different World Day & Saturdays (if I found a good one) is Small Channel Saturday. The other days I post whatever I like. Real-Time Reviews (reactions), rants, movie reviews, special videos, etc.

Trying to promote all of those days has boosted views but isn't worth the effort if it just ends with suspensions and bans. Especially since I wouldn't consider self-promotion a problem. (If you don't promote yourself...) But it's not my site. I'll likely stick to Twitter where I can hashtag my stuff to death and MAYBE promote a bigger project video on Reddit. I just have to find time to comment as often as they want me to to make it work which isn't as easy as it sounds.
