sony vegas or after affects???

After Effects is for special effects, it is not really meant for editing videos on. Premiere for that :)

Yeah I was under the understanding that Vegas and After Effects don't really do the same things.

I feel as though if you a knowledgeable enough, you can get more out of a Premiere Pro/After effects combo than you can with Vegas.

But this is just what I've heard. And like I mentioned, you have to take quite a bit of time to learn all the adobe video programs. They are not quite as user friendly.
 
Premiere is pretty friendly. As for After Effects you might do some more research than usual.
I like AE a lot. And I even Edit in it, But I like to switch back to Premiere/Audition for some better Audio editing
 
I'd say after effects if it were between the two... But I use Final Cut Pro and Motion 5... They are perfect for me. easy to use and not as expensive I don't think?

For effects and colour grading After Effects is the way to go.. for an editing software to replace Vegas 12 or FCP7.. I would go with Premiere CS6
 
I use Vegas Pro for doing all my cuts, and general clip editing. I use After Effects for my intros, or anything to spice up the look of my videos, and Audacity for voice editing, because I am just used to it, and know how to get rid of most of the background noise using it.
 
I'm getting some decent effects from AE after a couple of weeks with all the tutorials around for it. if you want to rent AE for a year (minimum term) its £17/month.
