So annoyed right now!

Cameron Dubs

Making David Cameron Sing!
Hey Guys :)

I'm so annoyed right now.... I've just recently found out that a facebook page called The Political Bible have been downloading our Shake It Off and Uptown Funk videos, and uploading them to their Facebook and YouTube, gaining more views on the Uptown Funk video than our original, and almost as many views on our Shake It Off one!

Not only that, but they appear to have used a piece of software to remove our watermark from our video, which is really annoying, as it leaves us with no credit being given, and them passing it off as their own! (which unfortunately means that I will have to move my watermark up more on the video from now on, meaning that it is a bit more distracting for viewers)

Many of the people in the Facebook comments are saying that they want to see more, and that The Political Bible should upload more (I don't blame the viewers for saying this, as they are being misled that they create the content).

Therefore, I'm going through the comments on both the videos and replying to them saying that they stole the video from us, and giving them a link to our channel to see more... In the long run, I guess it could potentially get a few more views and subscribers to the channel, but it has made so much work for me now! (especially seeing as though Facebook Pages only let you post about 10 replies per hour, otherwise they block you from commenting temporarily because you're "spamming")

Has anyone else ever encountered something like this, or am I alone on this one? Seriously annoyed right now...

You should report the facebook page! Well I didnt face such thing yet :D

I am going to, but I'm waiting until I've replied to everyone who was looking for more... If I report it now, the content could get deleted and I lose out on potential viewers haha :D But don't worry, I will be doing so soon.

And I hope it doesn't happen to you! I know it seems really petty, but when you spend so long editing a video and then someone else comes along and steals it, passing it off as their own, it realllllly gets you angry

How did You find out about this? I mean... how do You check for things like that?
I do a general search for key terms on Twitter for people who've shared our videos, but not mentioned our account directly, so I can thank them (e.g. terms like 'david cameron singing', 'david cameron sings', 'david cameron sing', etc.)

I then came across the Political Bible twitter feed (nowhere near as popular as their facebook page with over 30,000 likes), who had uploaded our video to their YouTube channel initially. I asked them to remove it as it was my video, but had no reply. So now, a few weeks later, I looked into it again when it was still not removed, and found the Facebook page which also had our videos uploaded directly to Facebook, with the many likes/shares/comments etc.

It wouldn't be as bad if someone basically copied our idea to make their own (many people do what we do), but to just steal it has really annoyed me!

Uuugh, I hate it when people do that! Stealing content and claiming it for your own is probably the worst in my books. Yea, you should probably report the Facebook page, but first gain the viewers on there :D Hope they aren't deleting your comments though. Anyway, good luck on getting justice!

There is enough politicians and pop songs to go around for everyone. Can't not believe someone stole your videos and didn't even give you credit. Shame on them. Good luck to you pal.
Agreed, cheers pal!

I sincerely hope their twitter and FB accounts are going to get shut down for stealing someone's work. They deserve nothing less.

I'm going to report their Twitter and YouTube now, although I doubt anything will happen (YouTube only seems to act for the big money names). I'm waiting to report their facebook, until I've let everyone know in the comments about the fact that our channel is the real one :)

I think we're all wondering this... Where do you get all your footage of David Cameron to get every word your need?

Haha, I get it from the official government channel (Number10gov). That way, it's covered by something called an "Open Government Licence" which allows me to edit the clips and then make money from the final product... It's similar to the new uk parody law, just for the government (and it's been around longer)

I know, it's seriously the worst thing. Obviously I wouldn't mind if they posted a link to our video on their page, but i don't see the point of downloading it and uploading it to facebook themselves, claiming credit. It's not even as if they're in it for the money, as they won't be earning anything. And yeah, the Facebook method is exactly what I'm doing haha :D So far, they don't seem to have deleted any comments, and thanks! :D
