Smosh Indiegogo campaign ???

To be fair merchandise is usually a really big money turner, I remember total biscuit saying before they he had sold 3.5k of a run of t-shirts (I bought one because the designs are simply brilliant) TB is a small youtuber then these guys and doesn't have as much of a young deluded fan base who literally stalk the people that they watch. $20 a tshirt take away $5 for shipping and even $10 for production costs if you want even though you can easily get these done for about $3-$5 for that many. So $5 x 3.5k is 17.5k pure profit, from someone who is a tenth the size of smosh.

That is also really undercutting the true amount made and it's more likely to be around 30k profit from a single run of 1 tshirt. Not sure what sort of merch smosh does but I've got a feeling they could easily rake in the money needed for this off merch alone

The first Smosh Mobile Game was so bad that the the Guys should first refund everyone who had bought it their money before making a new One or even going that far to start asking for some Money to create another One.

You forget that he lives in an area of Europe that doesn't always allow for adsense. That is detrimental to his earnings.

But I digress. I will no longer ask questions oh goddess of YTtalk.

Ad revenue doesn't factor in your location on YouTube (direct sales then probably a little) - only the countries where the impression is made. Obviously if all his viewers were European then he would probably make half (or less) of what Frankie put out, but I am pretty sure most of his viewers are from English-speaking countries which have the highest CPMs. Anyway, if that did factor in, he's in (or coming not sure) the UK now.

I was more talking about how Adsense works in his place of residence. I'm not familiar with where he's from or created his channel, but some European and Asian countries have completely or partially blocked Adsense. That's what I was trying to get at.

I honestly don't think they should be asking for so much. Their first game, Super Head Esploder X ($1.99), did pretty well, and I don't remember if there was a kickstarter for that too, but I don't think there was. They have enough money as is to release another.

So smosh have set up an indiegogo campaign to make an iphone game.

Not sure what to feel about this, sure its a way of giving to the fans (sort of), but the cap they're asking for is 1/4 of a million US dollars :O I thought they were making 6-7 figure salaries a year?

What you guys think?

Didn't they just release one? About exploding heads or something?

This is just abusing your viewers, is not enough that you make money off them by ad views. But no they need you to fund there game.

Going by these numbers, however accurate they are they, could fund more then 20+ iphone games and still live in luxury. How cheap are you that you can't afford the 10+ grand that it would cost to make the thing .

Lets not forget there gaming channel as well.
