Should I keep uploading in 1080P or 720P?

It all depends on what the video is, I see you do gaming which is what the channel I have linked to this forum is. If I've recorded the game on my computer I will upload the video in 1440p or 1080p depending on how graphic intensive the game is. If I record the gameplay using a console I'll just leave it at 720p but sometimes I still render in 1080p just because the quality is still going to be a little better because youtube allows a higher Bitrate on 1080p.
Good point, even if you have lower resolution video, uploading it in 1080p will give it a higher bitrate.

I upload in 720p because I think that it takes less time and there isn't really a difference in 1080 and 720 in my eyes but that is just my view on it.

Just curious if there is really a point to upload in 1080 compared to 720, as of right now, I upload everything in 1080 but would it really affect anything if I only uploaded in 720?

1080. Think of the people using a TV with a Roku. Think of the future. Years down the road you may be happy if your vids are in 1080p instead of 720.

What is exactly a bitrate, I am not that computer savvy as I just learned how to port forward XD
So bitrate is measured in megabits per second (or kilobits). 8 megabits is equal to 1 megabyte. Basically, the higher the megabits per second (MBPS), the more information the video can have per second. So the lower the bitrate, the more the video has to compromise quality to reach a certain size. That is why higher resolution video MUST have a higher bitrate, because there are more pixels, there will obviously be more data per second. I believe uncompressed 1920x1080 video at 29.97 FPS has a bitrate of 1500 MBPS, but I am not sure. Most DSLRs that are NTSC (the North American video standard), and record at 1920x1080 at 30 FPS record at an bitrate of 50 MBPS.

It's best to upload in what you film in.
If you film in 720p then upload in 1080p then well done you made a blur.

If your PC is 1920 x 1080.. then film/edit/export/upload in 1080p you have the capability. File size you shouldn't worry about if you export correctly for YouTube.

If you use an Elgato or whatever to film from a PS3/Xbox then again if your PC can cope capture it in 1080p.. My original PC couldn't handle it so I captured/edited/exported/uploaded in 720p until I built my own in Spring.

My camera I film/edit/export/upload in 1080p because again it can be done.

If you can film/capture in 1080p. Then edit/export and upload in 1080p because 720p is nice but we're moving into 4k monitors soon which is like 2160p so you know. a 720p video on a 2160p screen will be like 480p on a 1080p now.

I was asking myself this about 7months ago but now I only ever upload in 720p.

For these reasons.
1. It looks just as good as 1080p most of the time.
2. FILE SIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. Sometimes 1080p can take longer to buffer on youtube so 720p is easier.
4. I cannot upload screenshots of a 1080p capture to youtube. AND I ALWAYS EDIT MY VIDEO IMAGE!

Hope these things I realized help. If not then I'll go cry in a corner or something :D

I just do 720p even though my camera is 1080p because mostly everyone on the computer is going to choose 720p and not 1080p. Plus you save space on your hard drive as well!

Thanks guys, I might just upload the less graphic intense games like minecraft in 720 and the nicer looking games in 1080 then

720p is much faster and much more convenient unless you have 5mbps-30mbps upload speed, you can upload 1080p. Most viewers watch 720p if it's only a gaming video.
