Should I keep my old channel?

I've Got It
Hello there, I have a weird question for you.

So, currently I don't have an official YT channel. When I joined this forum in August my plan was to start it in no longer than 3 months and I'm getting near to that point so I want to start preparing some channel art etc..

I have an account I created back in 2009, I use it everyday to watch all the channels I'm subscribed to and starting a new channel would mean I would have to abandon this one. You will probably think it's stupid but I kind of established a connection to it. I used to be a very shy kid so I wouldn't go out much, I would come back from school and watch YT videos all day. As sad as it sound that channel was a big part of my childhood so if possible I would like to keep it.

I wouldn't be hesitant to keep it if I didn't see few potential problems with doing this:
1. It was made in 2009 so it already has a custom URL, will I still be able to change it when I hit 500 subscribers?
2. Are people going to think it's weird that my account is so old but I only just started posting videos?
3. It was set up with an old email that I no longer use, will I be able to change it?
4. This is the weirdest concern I could probably have but I'm that kind of person to over think everything so, over the years I liked almost a thousand videos on YT and it's not possible to hide the "liked videos" playlist on you channel (as far as I'm aware).
This is thinking far to the future but if I managed to grow my channel and somehow become popular what if someone went through that playlist and found some weird video that I liked back in the day and managed to give me bad PR because of it lol.

After reading this you probably think I'm a complete weirdo but whatever, tell me what you think I should do.:)

Unfortunately no you cannot change it.

Most people wont care or check but its nice to start around the join date for your own record.

You can add a channel manager in Google Plus and then make them the owner but the process I believe takes over 2 weeks to complete.

You can hide all of your activity from your channel so liked videos and subscriptions are not visible to others.

As more and more people start using mobiles to view channels and their videos the custom URL isnt as important as it once was for finding people as it isnt visible on mobile devices but I would still factor it in to any decision you make, it depends on the custom URL adamsgamingchannel wouldnt be suited at all to a bike repair channel for example :)

How do I hide the "Liked videos" playlist then? I can't see the usual option I get in other playlists.

It's Agral100. Agral is a name of a character in Heroes Of Might and Magic 5 (a game I used to play a lot when I was younger) :)

You're probably right, it's time to become a big boy. You know what they say: "if you really love it, let it go"

What kinds of videos do you plan on making?
It's going to be a mish msah of everything. My goal is not to limit my self to a genre. I know every "YT expert" would suggest against doing this but I just want to do whatever makes me happy.

Anyway, thanks for your help :)

Hm, I believe you can change it to a new custom URL once you hit the requirements. There was a thread recently where it was offered to someone who already had an old custom URL like /user/channelname

Yeah, I definitely saw few bigger YouTubers changing it but I assumed they got special treatment because of their size.
Anyway, I will most likely follow Michael's advice and just make a new channel.
