Self advertising?

Just curious, how do you word your comments? I feel bad saying annoying things so I make them not spammy.
What about you? Just looking for tips. I still will rarely do this because it does seem annoying.

Ooh I saw your comment on a video that I whored myself on. You need to be more aggressive, don't act all innocent and be like "we made a photo booth video too!" . instead be like "b***h SUBSCRIBE TO ME NOW YOU *****" well um maybe not that much but just try to make it more general? Idk. Today I posted on 4 videos and gained over 420 subscribers. Pretty nice haha

I'm curious, what's your channel?

Sometimes when I see an opportunity I accept it. For example, sometimes people ask the person to make videos more often, or to ask for other science channels to watch. I will bud in and say something like "I also make science videos on my channel, you might enjoy them!" or something like that. I usually only "spam" if I have something relevant to say about the video that relates to my channel.

I wouldn't really recommend self promoting on YouTube because it could backfire. I don't really understand how those people who get thumbed up for it do it.
But I remember when I first started out, I randomly commented on a biggish youtubers video, not in an overly self promoting way, just commenting on how much I enjoyed the video etc and how I had just started out etc etc. He replied to my comment, which I wasn't expecting, and he was really encouraging! I got a few subs from that but I don't self promote on youtube anymore. I mostly use tumblr now which is pretty cool. :')

Unlike the people above, I disagree with spamming comments or PM's. To me, the only thing you will gain from the comment/pm is a dislike on your video, and then the comment will be flagged. Of course, if you are continually caught spamming, people will remember your name and will label you as a spammer. If you DO get big on youtube one day, do you want to say you did it by yourself, or that you piggybacked off of other people's subscribers? I know which one I'd pick, and have been spam free since the beginning. :)
That's exactly what I've thought![DOUBLEPOST=1385363960,1385363352][/DOUBLEPOST]Thanks for all the advice! It really helps :)
