Self advertising?

Hey community!

I'm on YouTube since September now and got 30 videos. Even though the videos got a certain number of viewers it never really increases.

I don't really mind because I do it for fun, even though some feedback would be cool sometime.

Anyways a lot of people around me say I should advertise the sh*t out of this channel so I finally get noticed.

But I don't really want to because it feels cheap and kind of like cheating. I want to get views and subs on a natural way because old YouTubers never asked for recognition either.

But then it annoys me when I see people commenting on famous youtubers videos, somehow getting their comment thumped up and gaining subscribers instantly.

Is there any way to get people to check out my channel without begging for it?

I feel a good way, and this has worked for me, is to hang around a few Reddi tsub communities for a while, then when you are established there, share one or two of your videos. That has worked for me so far

well if you wanna promote your self just keep posting away on social media..FB/Twitter. and on yttalk of course! i don't like the idea of post on others videos but hey who i am i to say not too! at the end of the day no one is going to promote you but yourself :)

If you don't advertise your videos then how on earth do you expect people to come across your videos amongst millions of others? You have to get big enough before you will grow organically from youtube referrals and people sharing your video on social media.

Nothing wrong with some shameless self promotion. In fact its about the only way to grow (unless you hit a 1 in a 20million chance) and older youtubers grew organically because there wasn't as much competition for their videos to be seen, each day there are millions more videos you have to contend with.

I'm getting about one subscriber per week at the moment and like 100 views. And 75 of the viewst comes from sharing on fb and other 25 mainly comes from yttalk. :)
I don't really mind that, because I'm doing what I love. ;)

:P Lucky you Janno. I have about 32 views that come from facebook right now, and those are only from my friends and families. I wish I could branch out more and get more people seeing it.

I've recently started commenting on big youtubers making similar videos to me asking for feedback on my channel. i figure if i was a massive youtuber i wouldn't mind others doing it, it's not like your subscribers are being stolen, they would just be watching somebody else as well.

I know it is frowned upon but i don't really se a problem with it so long as you aren't filling up to comments box with just your comments, i just post once on every recent video of big youtubers, i think that is acceptable and it wouldn't bother me if i was them

Old Youtubers didn't have to compete with anyone like we do today, they were the Henry Fords and Wright brothers of Youtube. Its a new day for Youtubers. Promote or die a pitiful non-viewing death.

Unlike the people above, I disagree with spamming comments or PM's. To me, the only thing you will gain from the comment/pm is a dislike on your video, and then the comment will be flagged. Of course, if you are continually caught spamming, people will remember your name and will label you as a spammer. If you DO get big on youtube one day, do you want to say you did it by yourself, or that you piggybacked off of other people's subscribers? I know which one I'd pick, and have been spam free since the beginning. :)
