Scripted or Unscripted Vlogs?

So I've seen loads of vloggers who script their videos.
I personally just have a few bullet points so I dont forget something I wanted to say.
But should you really make detailed scripts for Vlogs?

I think scripts are good if you are acting something out, like a little sketch bit in your video, but other than that, I prefer watching people just talking to the camera without a script! :) I'm the same as you, I just note down a few bullet points :)

If you can pull off a scripted vlog without anyone noticing it's scripted..then I say go for it. I'm a terrible vlogger. But when I tried to do one from script (the 7 heroes tag) I kept messing everything up. So after 20 takes, I said screw it, I'm just going to do this from memory :P It was a lot easier that way. The problem with unscripted vlogs though, is you can run into a lot of hems and aahs and ums and uuuhs..........(happens to me all the time, hence the 50 000 jump cuts) some people don't like jump cuts hehe.

I agree. I don't think a script would improve the quality of your video, and if anything it would make it worse. I ,personally, use a script, but I'm not a vlogger. I would much prefer to watch someone talking naturally rather than someone who is trying to remember their lines while also trying to make it seem natural.

Personally I just have a few bullet points and work from there, and I do multiple retakes if I'm not happy lol. If you can pull off reading from a script but look natural doing it then it's fine, but that is a very hard thing to do and when you don't look natural it gives the viewer less enjoyment from watching.

I write a lot of stuff down because I do 5 videos a week and work full time and my brain is now a liquified mess that can't retain too much information.

I never script anything. I will pick a topic for my weekly vlog and stay generally on that topic as I talk to the camera (I'm rarely at a loss for words ... and if I go off on too many tangents, I can always edit those bits out later!). :)

Depends on how good you are in improvising and staying on subject. I don't think watching a vlog where the person is going "hum, and...uuuuh" is very entertaining.
You would have hated my original videos, boo. :D I was awfully nervous. I also didn't know how to edit back then. :cookiemonsterbelike:

I think bullet points for things you'd definitely want to hit in the video would be enough. You could always do some touch ups afterwards to get rid of any awkward moments. If that's not an option, just make the awkwardness cute in some way. That always works. (See: me)
