In my experience with Reddit, the users generally don't respond well to just posting your channel/video links.
They are quite a 'proud' bunch and there seems to be this unwritten rule of - you have to be a very active member to get away with it. And if there is any hint of you spamming, you get down voted.
As they put it; "It's not strictly forbidden to submit a link to a site that you own or otherwise benefit from in some way, but you should sort of consider yourself on thin ice. If you spend more time submitting to Reddit than reading it, you're almost certainly a spammer."
of course, this is just based of my experiences with using Reddit
