This is a topic that gets brought up a lot on here, and you'll find the majority vote to keep your subscribers hidden. They'll say that if you hide your subscribers it appears to them that you are ashamed of how many subs you actually have, and see it as pathetic. I, on the other hand, tested this method out when I started this channel LyfeWithDragons, and hid the subscriber count for about two months, and it was amazing.

To me, hiding the subscriber count makes your channel feel like it's exclusive to a person who does subscribe, and shows you don't care what the numbers say. For you, it should test that people are joining you based on your content, not because they wanna just be part of a crowd. In the end, hidding the subscribers, or showing them, it's up to you. You ask if it plays a part in you getting subscribers or not, and it does, a little, not a whole lot.

Note: I'm now showing my subscriber count, and testing it for another two months then I'll most likely turn it back off. I'll continue testing it till I see which results I'm happy with.

I don't like if someone is hiding their sub count. Most of YouTubers doesn't do this so if someone does then it looks very weird to me.

Actually, it's becoming more and more of a common practice. Just because "most" people don't do it, doesn't make it a bad thing. That'd be so narrow minded thinking, if you wanted everyone to follow on a bandwagon.

You should also ask yourself: "Why would I hide it"?

If you don't want to show that your channel is small then hiding it won't change much because everyone still can see that your videos doesn't have much views.

For the reasons I stated above. Even though the number was growing slowly day by day, the interaction that I got with each video was amazing. I value audience interaction more than subscription numbers. Not saying they aren't important, just personal preference.
