Question for YT partners. How has your last 30 days views been. Up? Down? Same?

I
Yeah. I noticed that increase in ads and the increase in income while my views are declining. Could it be that all the extra ads are driving viewers away from YT? YT had better watch out. People don't mind ads too much if they are reasonable, but if they become too aggressive, they will go somewhere else.
I have used AdBlock since the late 90s - so I did not realize the interwebs had ads ha ha (first started using it as a p**n pop-up blocker on gaming sites). But... my wife just told me that my latest video had 5 or 6 ads in it. Two before the video played, and 3 breaks (I think she said one break had 2 ads). That is way too many ads in a 15 minute video! There is no way I would sit for that. As a viewer I would either change videos, or change sites.

I agree that YouTube has gone overboard on the ads, but most are skippable. I don't have a problem with ads and really don't understand people who. Nothing in life is free. From the beginning, even back in the radio days, ads were run to pay for transmitting content to a wide audience at no cost to them. Over the air, TV has always had ads and people understand that these ads pay for them to be able to watch TV without having to pay a monthly subscription. I really don't get people who think that everything on the internet should be free and they should not even have to see an ad. Where does this mentality come from? Nothing in life is free. It is a simple basic logic. People need to eat and have a place to live. Even if they wanted to work for free, they have to EAT. Carpenters don't build houses for free. GM plant workers don't build cars for free. Power companies don't produce electricity and give it away for free. So why do people think they should get all the content on the internet for free? How does one make the mental jump to that way of thinking?

I agree there needs to be a balance, and YT playing two ads before a video starts is not right. But a short ad every five minutes on a youtube video is not too much. Most of my videos are ten minutes or less, so people will only see one middle ad.

i just made a new channel last month cuz my other channel got deleted so my channel is doing great!!!

My views have been way up, but mostly that was because YT was recommending my top video and that drove everything. I had my best numbers ever and the revenue was proportionally even higher than the views!

something odd that has been happening on my channel is that my views, watch time and CTR are all up significatnly by at least 20-30% on average. But for the last 6 weeks my subs count has just...well...died. I've gone from averaging 16-18 subscribers a month consistently since the start of the year to 3 subscribers in the last 6 weeks. No idea why it's faltering. but the only thing thats changed with my channel is that shortly before the subcount stopped growing I rolled over to 400 subs. I dont know whether that puts me in a new bracket of demand with the youtube algorithms, whether im just in the middle of a dry patch or that people have finally realised my contents no good, but strange things are afoot. :giggle:

My views and subs rose quite good at the first 2-3 month after reactivating my channel - from 40 subs to now 190+ and from nearly 0 viewing time to around 300hrs per month.
But now Im in month 4 and for the last 3 weeks its stuck -visits and subscribers don'trise like before.
So I have to think about what to change.... like adding chapters to my opening video, so people get more info on whats inside.
Its just my old fotobook turend into a slideshow
