Is it okay for a channel change directions of content?

Make what you want to make or enjoy making. it is probably easier to get out there from a tutorial side of things so if you enjoy making them, and they are more popular go for it. You may lose some subs who wanted gaming, but if the tutorials are more popular you should make up for it eventually.
 
i would recommend changing the direction of a channel if the original brand is failing if you already have something else well established i wouldnt.
