Promoting at school?

Hey!
I'll be going back to college in about 2-3 weeks and I was thinking of ways to promote my channel around campus. Other than attending activities and clubs that fall in my niche I was thinking of making some fliers about the size of an index card. The school allows me to print about 21+ pages a week and I was thinking of printing out fliers at the end of each week with the extra pages I have. I'll probably divide them into 4 or 6 and print double sided.

What do you guys think of this?
What should I write on them?
Where should I place them? cafeteria tables, under computer keyboards (shouldn't really be putting them in the computer labs lol), clubs/activities that have to do with my niche, maybe library
Adding to pollution don't be that guy?
No one likes annoying fliers?
Gives a bad rep?
What are other ways to promote your channel on campus?

Thanks!

I would say don't advertise around school. Mainly due to the fact that people will most likely take the mick out of you at school and you may get in trouble with your school.

My university is quite large. Even if I do this I highly doubt anyone would recognize me lol. I also like to think my fellow students are above bullying at this point XP. As for trouble with the school as long as I'm not posting them on boards that require permission I should be fine, but I could get in trouble for littering if they end up all over the place.

Well you never know, there are people that are like that. Get permission with the school because otherwise you could end up in trouble :P

I feel like a lot of people at your school might not understand youtube they will find your channel and make fun of you. That is what happened to me. Soon people I had never talked to in my life said they watched my youtube videos, it was kind of creepy. I had to put a lot of videos on private so people wouldn't find them.

A good idea would be to make business cards for your channel it is way more professional. Try a website like overnightprints(*)com. It might cost some money but it shouldn't be more then like $1o-15 and you would have more then enough business cards. If someone brings the topic of YouTube you can hand them a business card and you could give them to your friends who might be interested. Also, schools don't like when you use the printers to print non-school related things. I have no idea how your school works, but if teachers find out they could revoke your printing privileges.

Building an audience on YouTube is tough and you want to find people who will actually watch your videos. There are other ways to get your channel out there besides promoting at school.[DOUBLEPOST=1407641202,1407641135][/DOUBLEPOST]But you can do whatever you want, and if promoting at your school is what you want to do, then do it.

I also wanted to make business cards for that exact reason! Also I technically paid for the paper already in my tuition so I can print whatever I want. It's college so people understand youtube. I was thinking of putting one of those barcodes that phones could scan and link to my channel. I know there are other ways of promoting, but this is an opportunity I can utilize. I'd really like to make youtube a career one day and I'd put a little blurb of that on my flier.

Okay that makes sense it is college. My experience was in middle school and I am in college now. And now I understand the 21 pages because no school gives you 21 pages for free, makes sense you do have to pay for it. I feel like in your original post you should have said college because I was thinking high school.

I would say go for it and make the business cards. I have no experience with those barcodes things but if you think it is a good idea try it. Do whatever you want, I mean it is your YouTube channel, but realize some people might not care for you promoting your YouTube channel at school.

If you are in college. Do you have a .edu e-mail address? That can open so doors for discounts on products like video equipment and more. This could be helpful if you are trying to promote your channel. You can even create your website on virb(*)com for free for one year if you have a .edu e-mail address. It is like squarespace if you have heard of that. You just have to pay for the domain name, which is around $10 and a one time fee. So if you want to create Loosearrowboy(*)com you could do it for free!

Thanks that's good to know! I'll look into that.

I try not to let people from school know that I do something creative and imaginative with my spare time.
*shivers* never again.

(But seriously you may think I'm being sarcastic but I'm not. The only way you'll get respect at school as an artist is if you say you snort cocaine for inspiration)

students(*)virb(*)com. (I don't have vip so I can't post links.) And I see you changed your post. And having your own website you could get professional e-mail like business(@)loosearrowboy*com or something similar, it would be way more professional then a gmail.

Also, I don't know where you go to school and how it works, but maybe try taking a class in entrepreneurship if they have it. I'm taking a class in entrepreneurship in college and it starts in a few weeks, I feel like it would relate a lot to YouTube.
