posting on Facebook VS embedding YT on Facebook

I Love YTtalk
I keep hearing that Facebook has more growth in videos. However I'm a little confused.

If I embed a YT video on Facebook I can add Hashtags etc to get it to be searchable.
If I upload a video directly to Facebook I can add Hashtags etc to get it searchable.

What is the difference? I don't see any difference what so ever as far views or marketing goes.

Do you mean actually uploading a video into FB v. linking a YT video to it?

Embedding is linking to it

If you send a link to the YT page, it takes them to the YT page. AFAIK, views count toward your youtube video this way, but not if you embed a link to the YT page in a PM, or maybe they do and they just come much later and I don't know about it yet.

If you upload directly to Facebook, it won't count toward your YT view count, so some people will put a 15 second blurb/teaser video (Let's Plays being a good example) and then put the link up to bring people to that video. If you're willing to put in the effort (most of the time I'm not), I'd cut 10-15 seconds into a teaser video and upload that directly to facebook with a link to the full video.

That's not what I'm asking. There seems to be no difference as far as getting views or search results. This whole thing about how Facebook is getting more popular for videos doesn't seem legit. You can get the same amount views if you Embed. Facebook does count them. Says so in analytics

I actually never uploaded any of my videos to FB. I only pasted links with a nice description on my fanpage. Maybe it's worth a shot to upload the actual video to try and get more publicity. I'll try today and will let You know about my results :)

Facebook ranks its own natively uploaded videos than the embedded videos of YouTube. Don't trust Facebook for its 4 billion views claim. It's BS and an example of AutoPlay.

how does the publicity change if you upload it directly to Facebook? You can still assign hashtags to a YouTube embed. I don't think it matters.

The difference is the size of the thumbnail you see on Facebook. Your video is alot more clickable if you upload directly, but then you don't gain the views on YouTube, so you need to decide what is worth more.

I agree with whoever said that Facebook favors its own native video over embedded 3rd party videos. This article claims to have done the actual research and has come to the same conclusion: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/videos-facebook-native-vs-youtube-wins/134389/

My guess is that as soon as Facebook gets any major traction with regard to online video they will have their algorithm squash Youtube embed results even further. Even besides the search algorithm, we can already see that they favor their own videos. Like Furrygurus said, look at the difference in prominence between the FB native video in the timeline and the Youtube embed.[DOUBLEPOST=1438155040,1438154353][/DOUBLEPOST]Here is another interesting article: http://adage.com/article/digital/facebook-s-biggest-weapon-youtube-algorithm/294873/

"Uploading a YouTube link to Facebook is just about death when it comes to attracting Facebook views or Facebook shares or likes. They've obviously tuned the algorithm to not be so into YouTube links," said one online video network executive.

It's not about the search results as much as it's about the newsfeed algorithm:

"Generally Facebook's news-feed algorithm gives preference to content that people consume and share most. When it comes to video, according to a a person familiar with the matter, Facebook's news-feed algorithm evaluates a video's likes, comments, shares and watch time. However Facebook can only measure watch time for videos posted directly to the social network, not links to other sites like YouTube. YouTube videos are at a disadvantage because people need to click to play those clips, whereas Facebook-native videos play automatically. A video must play for at least three seconds for Facebook to count it as a view", according to a Facebook spokesman.

Now...you didn't expect Facebook to play fair, did you? By the way, if I search 'Offbeat Bryce' on Google your Facebook page is listed above your YT channel page. Even Google favors Facebook lol
