Pc recording Software??

I'm trying to record some Pc gameplay but the software I use OBS renders in horrible quality. Is there any good free recording software for pc
 
I personally use Dxtory, with the correct codec and settings it can work miracles and I dont really get that much of an FPS drop. (around 2-5)
 
i am currently using software called Action. So far good results. You can output to different quality levels and also record webcam footage at the same time if you wanted a face cam of your game play

Yea right I use dxtory also and it's great! My fps barely drops but it's still perfect non laggy recording and I don't even have a gaming computer!!!
 
ShadowPlay is free. You must have a NVIDIA GPU however. It works great. I love it. It records in the format needed for YouTube so the file sizes are much smaller than what FRAPS produces.
 
If you have money I would recommend Fraps or DXtory. Fraps comes in at $37 USD and DXtory at about $35 USD. It is debatable about which one is better, so it is something that you have to decide for yourself. I personally like Fraps!
 
I've been using OBS and I really like the quality. I use Dxtory too, but the files are gigantic! I always try to record in 1080p with atleast 30fps, but the video is never as smooth as I want it to be so I have to reduce it to 1600x900 for both game and recording software. Maybe I'm doing it wrong... I'm experimenting using my Elgato HD for PC gameplay rather than just console gameplay and the video is very smooth even though I have it set to the highest quality for both game and software.

How do you use OBS?? I have it but I tried recording some roms and gmod . It recorded gmod whith horrible resolution and same with TF2. Then I tried a n64 rom, It would record nothing just sound and then i tried changing to windows mode but it only records a small corner of the game. Maybe you could help me out I'd be grateful
