One of my popular videos is not earning. WHY?

I Love YTtalk
Okay, I am new to earning money on my youtube account. I have had my account for many years, but only recently monetized it after I realized I had over half a million views. Most of my videos don't really get that much traffic, but one video I made years ago gets a lot of traffic. Now that my account is earning some money I decided to try and make videos that would get more traffic. So, I released a new video last week and it already has over 8000 views. The problem is that it is earning almost no money at all.

In the last week my old video has 5274 views and has earned $6.85. My new video has 8166 views and has earned $0.06. Both are monetized exactly the same. The only difference I can find is that 99% of the views on my old video are coming from the Youtube Watch Page and 91% of the views on my new video are coming from External Websites.

Can someone explain to me what is going on here and how to correct it. Thanks.

Not even a single response. Man! I really need help here guys. Anyone? My video is now lcose to 15,000 views and it has only made me 8 cents. Come on, I am losing money. What can I do?

They have changed the way you make money on youtube recently, now it all depends on Watch Time. Is your video over 10 minutes?

New videos generally earn less than older, more established ones...although not quite that severe in my experience.

From there, I'd check your tags, descriptions, and the analystics of the viewers...which country they're watching it from, age groups, their rentention and so on.

Also, if you are doing youtube for the money, then get off of youtube. I am sorry, but that is not the way to go with Youtube.

Make sure that it is still monetized. It's possible that the attention has caused someone to flag it for copyright use. If it is no longer monetized, it can't be earning money.

My video is monetized. It is all my own original content so no copyright issues. The video is only a couple minutes long but it still has ads on it.

Kingray111, what is wrong with making a little money on youtube? It's not like youtube is not making money off you. Youtube is making billions off of their users videos. What's wrong with asking youtube for a tiny slice?

Youtube is hosting your videos, without Youtube, Youtubers wouldn't exist.
