New Laptop needed! Which make?

True story- my MacBook Pro trackpad does not work when I click down on it- have to use a mouse if I want to click and drag, which is a pain. No issues for me with the keyboard, but the optical drive has conked out and one of the graphics cards is now pretty much redundant. It is a 2009 machine, for what it's worth. I've had the Genius Bar take a look at the trackpad- they didn't see a problem with it and repositioned it just in case- it has since died completely in the click and drag sense. Grrr.

Yeah see after four years that simply shouldn't happen :( my iMac is just over four years old and it's still running like a brand new computer!

That's odd. My sister has had a Macbook for over a year now and nothing has gone wrong with it yet. YET :p but I still agree with this to some extent, a desktop Mac would be the more ideal choice.

A year wouldn't cause an issue, but it's long-term. you pay that much, you want it to last! The desktops do, but the laptops tend to wear quite easily

I guess it comes down to how well you look after it too. I've never liked laptops anyway. You need to be more careful with them and I'm not ready to have a responsibility like that :p I'll sit here with my lovely desktop which will never fail me ev- wait why is it shutting down?! NOOOO D:

No I agree; I'm not impressed. But that said, my original MacBook that I got in 2007 (my mum is now using) is still working like a dream. I think her optical drive failed, but Apple replaced that- since then, no issues. Got an iMac at the beginning of summer, so I will be interested to see how that performs over time. So far no issues apart from Sims rejection! I guess Sims just is not destined to run well on a Mac, no matter what they say! :(

Wait, I have Sims 3 on my Mac and it runs perfectly at a very high spec  I wonder why that's happened? Which Sims game is it you're trying to run?

:eek: Sims 3 - I installed all EPs apart from University and Pets, then it keeps crashing!!! After minutes of use, it just crashes and I have to reboot the computer unless it's in window mode in which case I have to force quit. I did research and apparently it hates Seasons, so I uninstalled that and thought I'd just play the magic one, but nooooo. Apparently it hates that too. Mac, why do you mock me? :cry2:

Maybe it's a glitch with an add on. I know it's a bum pain but perhaps delete and reinstall? All I have is the base game and the Late Night one (I think). Takes up a crap tonne of space, but it runs fine!

Hmm. I might give that a go, and reinstall everything from the discs rather than Origin. Maybe just skip out Seasons and hope that's sufficient- I want fairies in my game, dammit! :D There's a pretty long thread on the official Sims message board from Mac users who have had issues with Seasons; hopefully it was just that EP that messed up the install :) *crosses fingers*
