In my opinion, the best recording software I could find has to be Mirillis Action. If you have an average PC, recording with Action is highly recommended by me, because as long as you record in AVI not MP4, there is almost no performance loss. The one drawback of this is that the file sizes are fairly large. If you have a relatively good PC, then MP4 is the best option, as you will be given great quality with low file sizes, but as I said, on an average PC this can cause some lag.
For editing, in my opinion, it is hands down Sony Vegas.
