I used to think youtube was trying to push out smaller channels and make it harder to get views, doing something weird with the algorythm or something that would make it much more difficult to be seen, then I became convinced I was over thinking and everything was normal and fair and working fine. But the thing is, I've been looking at alot of larger channels recently, not huge but larger than mine, people with 10,000 subs or 20,000 or 5,000 you know somewhere in that area. And on so freaking many channels you see they were getting more views a few years back when they had less subscribers.

I mean it's like all over the place, people who were uploading 4 years ago and would get 10,000 views on something when they only had like 1,000 subs at the time, now they have like 10,000 subs but they're getting like 1500 views... it just seems like everyone was getting views easier in the past.

I'm not saying I have any conspiracy theories going on in my brain specifically, I'm just saying I'm getting that feeling again that something fishy may actually be the cause of this.

When it comes to youtube, there is always something fishy going on. This is why we do not sniff youtube.

Seriously, though, it does seem like they try to keep the little guy down. Like this whole kicking small record labels off the site because they can't/won't pay a fee.

I think maybe back then people went around watching videos more than actually subscribing to people. I remember back before YouTube was so popular and before NigaHiga was #1 I would go on his channel a lot to watch his videos but I never bothered making an account. I dunno, might have just been me.

Yeah like every time I try to figure it out or come up with a theory I feel like I step out of bounds or start getting... delusional. But I can't deny that just.. the website has MORE people than ever, it's growing in viewers every day, it's HUGE, so why would people be getting LESS views now than they were before? Why are people who used to upload a video and get well well over their subscriber count in views, now getting a small percentage of their subscriber base it just...

And I will say that people say all over the place youtube is trying to kind of collapse itself into a pay site or something, I don't know about that or anything, but it seems like even large channels are experiencing these view drops so that would make more sense than the idea it's all about keeping down small channels but I don't know. Wouldn't that mean less viewers too? I mean I thought about that, maybe it's just so over saturated etc. But I don't think that makes sense actually. The viewers are going to outnumber the content creators. I mean I can't give reasoning for that beyond just it seems like common sense. More people are going to just click on videos and be drawn to watching than people who are gonna feel compelled to create. So if the viewer audience is growing at a faster rate than the creators, over saturation shouldn't cause views to go down. I may be unaware of some other factor but just... in my mind abundance of content wouldn't cause a lowering of views unless the content creators were beginning to outnumber the viewers. The idea that we're outnumbering the viewers just seems unrealistic to me, I have no data or proof it just seems like... duh more people are gonna watch than upload lol

Now the content creaters aren't necessarily outnumbering the audience but with 100 hours of video being uploaded each minute, we're definitely catching up. Kinda scary if you think about it

Actually yeah I see what you mean about it being kinda scary. It's just so much to process and take in and so much bigger than you want to imagine. I still don't see how more content creators is going to lessen views, but good lord this website is.. it's literally like an entire world!!! The people who own this website basically own an entire world. That's not an exaggeration either! It is like an online video watching WORLDDDDD
